I am looking for an easy solution for wireless apple carplay in my Thar. Presently it works perfectly with my OEM Apple Cable.

And I m looking for a solution for my old 2012 Cooper S. This car only has one USB A Type Port which is presently being used for the dashcam.

I request advice on how to enhance this.

Thanks!

Does this car link it works with vw/ skoda RCD340g units? Can I play videos in RCD units ?

I see 2 models of carlinkit 5.0 on Amazon India. I need it for Creta 2021 SX (10.25" screen). Can someone who is using it confirm which model is compatible /recommended and if possible, link to the product. Thanks much.

After going through reviews and some deliberation, purchased "Carlinkit 5.0, Ultimate Wireless CarPlay & Android Auto Adapter" from Amazon for my Creta SX IVT 2021 model which has 10.25" screen with wired AA and CP. Car has wireless charging pad but without wireless AA/CP, it is not of much use. So decided to go for this adapter for true wireless experience.

Product was delivered within 24 hours. Setting it up was super easy plug and play out of the box. Just followed instructions in the manual (not much actually). Both me and my spouse have Samsung phones which got paired instantly.

Once paired, the adapter recognizes and auto connects the phone as long as Wifi and Bluetooth are ON. AA on the screen appears quite quickly after starting the car. I am not sure if the device keeps itself ON once the car is turned off. Need to check this so that it does not end up draining the battery. If someone can confirm one way or the other, do let me know.
Took the car for a spin and played my favorite songs. It was seemless and audio quality was good. Tried Google assistance touch button to play some songs using voice commands. Initially it worked perfectly and super quickly but after a while it started glitching. Did a longish drive and device worked perfectly but it started disconnecting randomly after 10-15 minutes. That's the only issue I found so far. Not sure if glitch is with the particular device or more generic. Need to keep an eye else would return the item.

Hope it works without glitches which can make it totally worth the price. I have been looking for such adaptor so that my kids on backseat can take care of playing music from my phone (while it is connected to screen for maps) and stop nagging me and my wife :uncontrol

Does the carlink have a USB port where we can connect our pendrive for music? Or is it only used for CP or AA? I'm looking for a solution to use both my pendrive and wireless CP with one USB port of the car.

Carlinkit is only an adapter which converts wired AA/CP (depending on the Carlinkit model) to wireless. I don't think it has the feature you are looking for.

Depends on the model. The one I have has a MicroSD slot that serves this purpose.

That's great. Could you let me know the model name/no. I have a Pioneer 5290 and I suppose it's compatible with this.

This is what I have -

But please do shop around, I remember seeing something less expensive after I started using this. But this one works pretty well for me.

Just got a Carlinkit 5.0 for my Verna 2023 and posted a review in the Verna Review thread here. It works very well on the Verna and don't see any issues with resoltion or any lag.

Carlinkit 5.0, Ultimate Wireless CarPlay & Android Auto Adapter

-----Update after few weeks of usage -----

Pros :

1. Enjoying life with wireless :) Also the fact that now Gmaps and music can co-exist. Back seat passengers (my demanding kids) are enjoying the fact that they can play music of their choice without bothering front passengers. This was my #1 criteria to go for a wireless adaptor.

2. Device boots up quickly after car is started. It also pairs phone pretty seamlessly and remembers last connected device if multiple devices are ready to pair.

3. Music audio quality has improved significantly. I was not expecting any enhancements in audio quality but nice surprise :)

4. Device gets switched off when car is turned off. So no battery drain issue (I was skeptical about this earlier).

5.Google assistant (OK Google) works very well for voice commands such as to play music via Spotify, search for directions on Gmaps or to dial a contact.

Cons

1. Mobile gets hot and drains battery faster than regular rate.

2. Device disconnects once in a while and I think it has got to do with some signal interference as it always disconnects at a particular location near my house. My kids can predict exactly when device is going to disconnect when we pass thru that location. But it stays connected 90% of the time during long drive. For convenience it provides, I'm OK to live with this small irritant.

Has anyone tried this device in the Thar? How is the response?

Got this for our Hycross VX Hybrid from USA a week before visiting India as our Hycross doesn't come with wireless CarPlay and Android Auto while upper variants come with wireless CarPlay and Android Auto.

Connecting the kit to the HU is seamless and loved the experience so far.

What's the feedback on Carlinkit 5.0 ? Intended to be used in a XL6.

@Aviator_guy says the mobile gets hot. Has anyone else faced this ?

I have been using it in my Scross 1.6 from August 2023, it is working flawlessly till now both with Android and IOS.

During general usage, the location/bluetooth will be always on, and youtube music/amazon prime or some other platform will be most of the time on, be it, city or long drives. Phones never got hot to be concerned about, may be it will slight warm, but that is mostly usual operational heat from the device.

However a friend of mine picked it up based on my recommendation for his XUV3OO, his device failed few days back, getting it replaced under warranty, he was complaining about the device getting bit hot though.
