Stay away from Sony for now. Let them improve themselves a bit more.

Some years back they were so problematic we used to call them Sony-Baloney and this was their Pro stuff used in Studios and stuff. Their video monitors however have always been first class.

hi..well car delivery got delayed, so got some more time to decide on the ice..
checked out some units.. pio 2950 is 4500 without B&W..hard to get a set with B&W, and they're askin for 7000..(we keen on warranty)
so my main options now are :

1. jvc HU(rs. 7000)
or
2. Sony gt260c(")
or
3. Pio 2990(Rs. 7990)
around 5% discount on both

and
1. Blaupunkt speakers 6" (rs 1800 a pair)
or
2. JVC speakers 6" (rs. 1500 a pair)

checked out JBL cs series(cs 2150 i think) they askin for Rs. 2900!!! thats 6k for 4, way beyond 8.5k budget!!
please suggest what to go in for..asap! thanks

Well if it is beyond budget, I suggest you go in for the Blaupunkt speakers. They are reasonably priced and pretty good considering what they cost. I'm not impressed by the JVC speakers at all!

Even the Pioneer HU looks good. Yes, it's more pleasing to look at.
You can try listening to each of them on same speakers if possible and decide more better.

Blau speakers are good for their price. Don't feel bad about buying them.

rock, i'd take the front pair. You can then even stuff a cheaper pair in the rear for rear fill.

ouch. I always prefer to use the plug socket arrangement becuase they lock in place. unless the wires were soldered on to the speaker tabs AND the soldered connection was "wrapped" in heat-shrink the plug socket is a better option.

You could also try a kenwood coax speaker . they have paper midranges . I love the sound of paper .

Since ,its for your parents , get a good HU and 2 pairs of speakers .
