LG might not be so bad...

i really liked the 2 DIN touchscreen, might go for it if it cheaper than the JVC 2 DIN DVD.

For my accent, i kind of like this one -
LAC-M8600
Features - 50Wx4ch (MOSFET) - Full Motorized Flip down - 3D Animated Display - CD-DA/R/RW (CD-Text), MP3, WMA (ID3 Tag) - SRS WOW Digital - XDSS Plus - AM/FM Tuner - 7 Preset EQ + 2 UserEQ - Preset Memory: 24EA - 4CH Line-out (4V) - Aux-in - Steering Wheel Remote Control Compatible
the features look great, the site lists it at 12,990..hmmm.. am having second thoughts...

waiting for a report on LG...

Please do check with other reputed HU manufacturers like Pioneer, Kenwood etc... They also may have something similar in their product range without a very big price difference.

Saw this HU at Driven the other day, will get to test it when its installed. It has an OEL display and motorized face plate. Build quality is OK for the price (MRP is in fact 12990)

Stay tuned...

Are you talking about LG 8600.

Did you get a chance to see LG 5600. At around 6-7K with USB support, it looks to be a VFM.

Re: LG forays into ICE??

Was searching for a refrigerator and came across the LG site and '!!!!', I could not believe my eyes 'CAR Infotainment' by LG!!! Ok...so I thought this must be something new and so with a wide grin I browse to TEAM-BHP.(me thinking: aaaah so finally I will start my first thread) but guess what '!!!!' (again), I find a 5 year old thread on LG ICE.

So the obvious 1st question, LG has been in this car speakers nd HU business for 5 years and still why don't we see them much?(in my case never)
LG has good reputation(known to masses) in consumer electronics and so people should be lapping their speakers and woofers over say a POLK or a HERTZ or even a JBL/JVC/BLAUPUNKT. But you see all of them but not a LG, not in cars not in stores(I probably answered my question by the last line)

Question 2: If anybody has tried them off late, please do let me/us know about the quality and performance. They look good at least.

You woke up a dusty old thread. If people were discussing LG, i am sure there would have been some activity on this.
Why LG ? People here dont talk about Sony Xplods either.

Re: LG forays into ICE??

Well after reading the last couple of posts, I visited the site, and checked out the specifications of some of the products.

From what I can deduce, the products don't see too bad after all. Couple of features that interested me in the HUs are:
  • Recording from FM into USB at 192 KBps
  • Video playback on the faceplate on Single DIN HU

Although I am not aware if these features are present on other HUs.

It would be interesting to know how these are priced, and if anyone has actually used or experienced any of these products. Healthy competition is always productive!!

Xplods may not be discussed but its there everywhere(including my car) but chances of spotting a LG ICE are as good as spotting a Yeti(the snowman as well as the Skoda one).
