most bass tubes adonot have integrated amps. A bass tube and a simple 2 ch. amp will cost you about 9-10K (JBL tube + Sony 552 amp for example). Most amplfied (active) bass tubes will cost you a bit more.

Is there any specialty with active bass-tubes when compared with a normal one ?

a good basstube will cost 5-7k (10-12inch)

you do need an amp. 2 channels are cheaper.

dont forget that you need $ for wiring too.

If you had opted for boxes then you can look at blau units.

This is what my basstube setup is like:-
JBL 10" bass tube-5k
blaupunkt gt 2 special(2ch)-abt 3.4k
install plus wiring plus the above run up to 10.3k!
sounds neat..not earth shattering though.

panky the 552 puts out about the same watts as the 60.2 when bridged. the graininess of the 552 wont be evident when it is driving a sub.

yeah navin its from GT series. I got it all done. It sounds real gr8 but a bit boomy also. The amp is 502. not 522.

Amp

Sony Xplod Series High Power Amplifier 502 gifts in india at rediff shopping

TUBE

Blaupunkt GTt 1200 tube subwoofer

my tube is 600W and 12 inches. It does create some huge vibration while hearing Pussy cat dolls and hip hop rap (nigga songs)

Hey..i have a Sony Xplod XM-1S amp lying with me..
thinking of installing a bass tube for it.
Can someone point me to a link which compares a basstube vs. a sub in box setup?
also if this is installed in the boot of the car(SX4) do i need to drill a hole in the tray ?there are vents already on the tray

no need to drill holes for either the box or the tube. the tube will sound boomier than a well designed/built box.
