Duh! Cuz the installer has split your left to the fronts and your rights to the rears. He should he taken one of the left splits for the front left and the other for the rear left, and so on for the rights. Instead he has taken both the left splits and connected them to the front channels of your amp.

So in effect, you are listening to mostly the left channel of your ICE sitting up front (or Right in the rear).

The cheapest head unit I've seen is the basic JVC (MP3/WMA) player available for Rs. 2750/- in Chandigarh.

Ughhh this used to be the norm and every time someone came by to show me their new car and "system" I would cringe.

Ok but when my balance is in neutral position all the speakers are working but when the balance is shifted completely to the right there's no output.
When i completely shift the balance to left only the front speakers work.

Damn! So even your RCA connections at the amp are wrong. I think your amp has a 2ch/4ch switch thats set incorrectly at 2ch. And instead of just plugging in the split left RCA into the front he has plugged them into both ch A and B. KP, PLEASE get your system rewired by someone who knows what they're doing. Where did you get your system installed. If they could mess up a simple system like yours, God knows they hold potential for disaster.

Cheers!

How good is the 4950 in terms of controlling the sound (EQ, Frequency cutoffs).

Very good, though without the bling bling (& some good features like USB) as found in 7950.
