Got the 9887 in bangalore for 22 so 25 is definitely beyond MRP. However, there is the part about the iPod cable which comes for an additional 2k. So check if 25 includes the iPod cable (alpine full speed).

Cheers!

First of all

One is a Premier Head Unit(P880prs) and One is Non Premier(P80rs)

Moreover Regardless of the Features

The Premier Unit has better Circuit Components than the Non Premier Unit.

Opening up of Both the Head units Circuits would give a better Picture

The Sound is also different in identical Setups

Which one is better? Premier or Non Premier?

As per Pioneer USA website, the only difference between premier and regular cd players is the extra 1 year warranty offered for premier units. That is the reason "premier" units are priced $20 more than their regular counterparts.

Apart from the warranty, there is no difference between comparable units of "premier" and regular range.

edit: I did see either on Pioneer Gulf or Singapore website that apart from warranty, the premier units have higher pre-out volts rating. not sure if this information is available now.

Hmm I dont agree...

Also one difference which I found was the Illumination of the p80 rs can be changed to blue or white but in the case of p880 it remains white.

Where else. Value for money buying it in the US. It costs about 3 times more here.

Heheh.. all in good time. Nice to take a big leap. I was hoping someone would comment on the 9886 / 9887 Vs 9884.

Did a SQ comparison wioth KCD and 9887.. IMO 9887 sucks.( at least in my car it sounds lousy As compared to my Kenwood KCD 01) .. I was really quite dissapointed with the HU as I had high hopes .
1. The alpine had a most unfriendly user interface
2. There was a distinct twinge with the midrange/tweets at certain frequencies which was soo irritating.. KCD in the respect was so much smoother.
3. Midbass was defeinetly more pronounced with the KCD
4. Only consolation maybe was TA witn the 9887 and soem tunig features whcihc coudl improve the soundstage marginally but even then the SQ of the KCD outweihghed this by a considerable margin.
5. With the KCD the midrange was divine.. whereas the 9887 does not do too much of a good job.. .

P.S :Me and FB swapped HU's on the weekend for a week... FB i want my HU back!!!!!!!
