Well at the risk of recommending a Sony. The CDX-GT460US has an MRP of 8990/- with B&W. Might be lower if you can get it w/o. Has front USB and Aux-IN.

Sony India : CDX-GT460US (CDXGT460US) : Details

Sounds very reasonable. While you are at it can you ask them which JBL subs they have in stock and their prices?

gopz, the GT5 will definitely be cheaper than GTO. However, the GTO will remain a superior product to the GT5 series - so it is better to recommend GTO937s.

thanks for that info...spoke to shuvd over the phone today and even he said the same thing...as far as the speakers are concerned I'm pretty much decided...but since I'm not considering adding any more speakers, subs or amp later hence shuvd suggested me to go for a cheaper HU with usb port....any idea on JVC or Blaupunkt HU's that have USB ports and are equally good as the 7950 but maybe a bit cheaper?

Raghu, he is not adding an amp (neither is he planning for one in future) so I think the GT5 would sound better than GTO 937...if connected directly to the HU.

The GTO is better, only if the speakers are powered with an amp, otherwise I think the GT5 would sound better with just the 16W RMS sound that HU would pump into it...and also it makes sense for him to save up some money too.

What do you think, Sam bhai? Please correct me if Im wrong!

thanks for the info I did check out the thread but its more like going beyond my budget and knowledge

One thing that I would really be interested in is a cheaper alternative for the 7950UB with an integrated USB port...I really dont need such a hifi HU and would appreciate if someone could suggest a JVC or Blaupunkt HU which would come with usb port and would really create good sound without an ampli...I dont need to much gizmo and features...I'am a kind of a guy who will just plug in his usb pen drive and be happy to listen to songs while going from home to office and back home...

Hence I'm looking for a HU that'll give me good mid range, good treble and less bass...I know I'm offending the purists but well thats how I like it...
