ALTO ICE with no boom

I have finally managed to save enough for a medium range ICE setup for my ALTO Lxi. I have decided upon a choice of HU and speakers which is as follows:
Pioneer DEH-P7950UB

JBL 4" 2-way Coaxial Car Speakers - GTO427 (Front)
Or
Sony xplod XS-V1642A 4" 4-way Coaxial speakers (Front)

JBL 6"x9" 3 way Car speaker - GTO937 (Rear)

I'am mostly looking for a mild sound all over the car and not much boom especially not in the front.I would like some opinions and suggestions on the above mentioned combi.

Choose JBL for front.
Rest looks good.

Do you really need the Pio 7950UB? Considering that you may not add amplifiers or bigger speakers in the front, I guess you can settle for a less expensive HU like the 4950 or 5950 (unless you need the USB port).

And, wait for the GT5 series of speakers (replacement for CS series) - they may sound better than GTO937 (because you dont have plans to buy an amp)

I agree with the others. If you don't need the USB connectivity, go for a different HU. And Bobby, please don't get Sony speakers!

XS V1642A is 6/12" coaxial which wouldnt fit in the dash.

I had Sony coaxial earlier and repalced it to Infinity Kappa. There was huge difference btn both. So in this case, I would suggest GTO427 out of the two.

If you don't need USB/other exotic functionality, then settle for an entry level Pioneer HU !

I will definitely need an USB port integrated to the HU as I dont think I would like to carry a few mp3 with me..as storage is a problem...moreover USB means more flexibility.

about the GT5 read about it in Tbhp...dont know if they are going to be expensive or cheaper than the GTO series or not?

Earlier I wasnt decided about the front speakers but now I think JBL makes more sense as everyone is vouching for it.
@Shuv any idea about the price of the speakers without B/W

As I've mentioned above I will require a usb connectivity and I know for that I will have to pay a premium price.Obviously, I will not require an amp as I'm not looking for any boom.

Amplifier is not used only for booming effect. It can amplify the mid range (vocals) and high frequencies also(treble) to have a quality output. Even if you have a set of speakers only, you can go for an amplifier..... provided your budget allows you for the same.

GT5 would definitely be cheaper than GTO.

You might wanna look at JVC HU's which do have aux-in and USB and are VFM.

I bought a CD case, after seeing one in Razor's Phoenix. It costs Rs 100, attaches to the upper surface of the sunvisor (so almost invisible) & accomodates 12 discs.

@sabre. Do you have a portable mp3 player? Or do you normally carry your songs in a pen drive?

If you have a mp3 player, you could consider a HU which has an Aux-IN. How much are you getting the 7950 for? The 4950 I got, cost me 5.5K.

hmm certainly makes sense...can you anyhow provide a timeline in terms of availability and can you suggest a certain 6"x9" speaker from the GT5 series which would compare to the GTO-937.

I would be glad if you to suggest a few good VFM HU's from their stable which have USB support?

I would mostly be carrying a philips portable mp3 player but I would like to keep a provision for usb pen drives and my mobile phone...

As far as the price is concerned I was told by a reputed dealer in Alipore,South Calcutta that the 7950UB will cost me around 11K without b/w.

Dont know if I should really invest so much on a HU. What about other HU's with a USB ports which would be almost as good and a lot more price effective?

I am not really sure about JVC HU prices, but I m sure that they are cheaper than Pioneer.

And the 7950UB can be bought for around 9k grey, try to bargain.
