For about 7 to 7.5K you can get a nice set of components (6" for the front and a pair of coaxials for the rear. That should sort you out.

Well then varun, you have already answered your own question. In a few days you will be able to buy the new GT5 series in Pune and they will fit in your budget.

Hey Sam,
I just checked with poona motors..and they said that GT5 is launched and it's oval shape will cost 4000/- and 6' front speaker will cost 1800/- is it costly?? or reasonable

It's reasonable. But you need components in the front.

What do you mean by that?? :D

Please watch out on Kenwood HUs... Best if you can fit speakers and experience the sound quality before you "buy" the speakers.

Let me explain: I had Kenwood HU in my earlier car and had Nippon speakers. That was the kit that Maruti gave me. It sounded lousy - ultra lousy. Totally shallow and wallowing sound quality. Changed the front speakers to Pioneer 6" first. Within the same week, changed the rear speakers to Pioneer 6" rounds (Baleno comes with 6" slots all around). No change in quality. Checked all the wiring again, found a major mess on the polarities. Cleared up the mess. The wallowing problem was solved. Lived on with it for almost a year. Then after some research on the web, found the Kenwood HUs do not offer as much sound controls and clarity as other manufacturers (Read as Pioneer / Sony / Bluepoint). Result: Simply dumped the Kenwood and got Pioneer HU - was lot better beyond that point.

Really sorry, but, I thought I would suggest upfront!!

But Kenwood makes some great sounding head units. I dont know your particular model or what exactly happened (though I have a guess or two) but lets not crap the whole brand as such. Their HUs and Amps are quite decent, even great in some cases. Their speakers etc are now avoidable.

Varun has the 4036 which is a nice entry level HU. Some other memvers have used it in an install and were impressed with it as well. http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/554870-post1.html

He means that you should go for component speakers in the front. Component set in basic terms means where the tweeter and midbass are separate and use an external crossover. This separate tweeter, when positioned properly gives far superior results than a coaxial from the same range.

The Kenwood K-CD01 is a kickass head unit. Even the older Kenwood that came in the Cedia sounded awesome compared to the Blau they are giving now.

I have a Kenwood 8533 HU and like it very much. i just changed the front speakers to Auzo 3 -way ones and in the rear i have the Stock Clarions. Never felt a need for better speakers till now and all my friends have appreciated the sound output very much.

IMHO, Kenwood is crap and best avoided.

I really don't understand how you make these "absolute" comments about this brand.

Kindly support your statement with proof :).

Bhaiyon, I said "IMHO: In my humble opinion."

All the experiences (on different occassions) that I had with this brand were very very poor. But again its subjective..

One can prove quoting Fs, Bs, Ts, Ys, blah blah that its good...but the fact remains that me as a layman, one of an average listener, did NOT like the sound overall.

Panky bhai, I have seen a Kenwood HU in my friend's car that performed miserably - not in terms of SQ, but in terms of reading the CD. The HU took minutes to kick-start and skipped a couple of seconds for every variation in the road. Looking at that, even I am scared of putting my money in Kenwood.

(I don't remember the model number, but it had a purplish display, characters made of dots - that's all I remember, lol.)

However, I firmly believe that it is not good to generalize a brand based on few products.

Exactly. Well said, Raghu! I think we cannot blindly post such comments without enough proof and justification. I have listened to a few Kenwood speakers & HU and I think they were VFM.
