Swift build quality is bad for serious iceing. Wasnt impressed even with 5K damping. Music was heard outside at high volume on a Swift with 5k damping while it doesnt happen in a Xing with zero damping. I can prove. Drive down to Kerala/Trivandrum.

I though damping is done to remove rattles and noises inside the car not outside. I am confused JKdas.

Hmm...so m4ugr8 what do you think when the GZ plays inside my swift. I have removed the panel which vibrates that was of the boot lid, so no need to damp the car more.

There must be significant air leak. Did both cars have similar systems?

Navin Ji the point what JK is referring is that the sound outside the car which I cannot understand. Damping make the difference to the sound coming outside the car. But it is not a criteria to compare.

The Xing and Swift are very similar in size. If one goes by the knock test the Swift's panels dont sound worse than the Xing.

Hence unless there is a difference in the system or the Swift has a leak I dont see why the Swift should allow more sound out of the car than the Xing.

Sirji i cant even imagine what the GZ must be doing to your ride!!! I will see the actual thing on the 11th meet if you permit.

Dhar - Well yes I got it for 2K (INR of course). A sorta friend runs an ICE shack. Maybe he was feeling generous that day (smile).

Kartik - My bad, my bad. Damping was Rs 1500 (missed the '0' which created all the confusion). And well now that I am better acquainted (still a noobie) with ICE, I realize that the damping was nothing great (not noisekill, dynamat - but something local)

JKD - Well I would not qualify as a dictionary defined 'audiophile' in practice (given what I currently run in my ride), but never-the-less, an audiophile I am at heart.
Audiophile and bass tube - well yes, even I now wonder what ICE awareness I had back then (smile)

652 are indeed co-ax and have now served their life - well almost....
