lol! Ok, I accept defeat. I will take a Pioneer, please

I suppose I will take a 7950.

It's not that I don't like the 7950, but compared to other electronic gadgets these days (cell phones, iPods etc.) the displays on HUs in general are real crappy. It's like buying a dot-matrix printer for your computer.

The 7950 as per what I have seen is the best.

Just a quick question - what (if any) is the difference between the 7950 and the 6050?

That's the only difference? So the 7950 is better?

Edit: The singapore product page says that the 6050 has a "7-band digital graphic equalizer"

My bad, I assumed the only difference between the 6050 and 5050 was the OEL display.

Yeah so I guess there's not much of a difference then !!! You buying me a 7950 too for all the inputs i hope

I'm starting this thread again because I am on the lookout for a new HU. Due to many reasons, discussed in other threads, there are a couple of features that have left my experience with the 6050 unsatisfatory. Now I am looking for a new HU.

Here are the features I want:
  1. Good display and interface - what I mean by this is that is should have a 3+ line display, so that it displays the Song, Artist and Album names in one screen together. I don't need fancy "screensavers," "movies" or whatever else they are called. A colour screen is also not required. But the interface should be user-friendly and intuitove.
  2. USB and Aux-In - I should be able to play music off my pen drive primarily.
  3. SQ - It should have good sound quality.
  4. Mp3 - of course it should be able to play mp3s.
  5. 2 RCA connections minimum - as I will most likely add a sub to my setup, and would like to control it with my HU.
  6. Price - Maximum 11K (grey) strictly.

i've just had the 5050 installed and for the price it was in the grey market - you can't beat it for vfm. i like the sq as well, and most importantly, it lets me play and control my ipod directly from the head unit, which is just so cool!!!

it cost me 6800 grey. the rest of the stuff to go with it all added up and made a sizeable dent in the pocket, but it was worth the pain bro!!!

Thanks bullet, but let me specify: I am selling off my 6050UB, and I do not want Pioneer at all. So people please only recommend non-pioneer HUs.

Veb: Are you sure that every other HU has a better randon play feature than your Pio ? My sony does go to the next random track even if I dont play the full song and press the next button. But have never calculated the probability thingie. But since I didnot notice, I am sure it must be better than your Pio.

Likewise, do find out these thinkgs for any brand you consider now.

I intend to do that once I have narrowed it down to a few HUs.

I havnt seen the actual kenwoods but going by pictures it looks great specially the 6539. The 3 line display also looks crisp. For the random feature you'll have to check up on that. And I presume it will be under 10k grey.

^ I am definitely going to give the new Kenwoods a good look once they are out. But for now, is there anything else available in the market?
