Need advise on music systems

Hi guys, I'm planning to install a music system in my WagonR, Vxi.
My budget is of 8k. Can you people suggest a good music system and what all features i can expect within this range? Is it sensible enough to buy HU from grey market without B&W?
Basically, I'm looking for MP3, WMS etc.. and if possible VCD.

How bout sony explode DX-1000 (I heard it has DVD, VCD etc..)

Please suggest.

Thanks,
Imran

For 8K you will have to buy a HU from grey, and too a basic model (4K-5K) without any funky functions or VCD. Look for Pioneer, JVC, Kenwood in your local market, and pick up whichever one you like the best from that.

Thanks Vebmetal,

Do you have any inputs about pio 5050 and 4050, and how much they cost in grey market?

Hey !!

Since your on a tight budget you need to spend as little as possible on the HU. 5050/4050 would eat up 75% of your budget.

Look at getting a 2950 or 3050(3050 has USB!!).

Spend the remaining for front speakers. The entry level components like the JBL GT5 series which are excellent VFM comes to mind.

Now I will let the ICE veterans have their way with you and help you spend roughly 3 times of what you were originally prepared to spend

have you looked at 7950 from pioneer.. ? i guess they will fit in your budget if Grey. also if you are going in for components in the front, it has got a seven band graphic eq which will help you tune up the audio for a descent SQ.

Hay Souljah thanks. But I guess you'll be little disappointed :-) to know that I already have components like front speaker (factory fitted) and rear speaker (sony explod 1500w) :-) (so no change of spending 3 times). My budget of 8k is only for HU :-)

Ummm, Xmax.. pls read the original post carefully.. the guy wants a HU and speakers in 8K. The 7950 alone will exceed this budget!!

You best stick with 2950, and increase your budget.

Apologies, XMax. The joke's on me. I think I confused this with another thread

Ok, 8K for HU will get you a number of choices. Bump it to 9K and you can get the Pioneer 7950UB or 6050UB.

Hi Imran. Go for 7950UB if you are looking for a good HU with Aux-in, USB and plenty of features. You can easily upgrade your ICE in the future with amp and sub. it's around 9K.
If you are lloking for VCD, guess you have to look at Sony or Kenwood or JVC. They all have a couple of models each with VCD playback.

get a 7950 only if you are planning an amp, components and rear speakers in the future. no use getting a 7950 if you plan to use it forever on the factory fitted speakers.

get the 3050 otherwise.

Hi Saintsinner, thank. I have rear speakers (sony explod 1500w) too.

Just now I have enquired with three dealers here in bangalore. The quotations are below:

Shivas:
Pio 2990 with B/w - Rs 7500
2050 without B/W - Rs 5500
4050 " - Rs 7500
7950 " - Rs 12, 500

Auto Grid:
2990 with B/W - Rs 8000
2050 without B/W - Rs 4350
4050 " - Rs 6000

Konark:
2050 without B/W - Rs 4000
4050 " - Rs 5800
Pioneer steering remote - Rs 1200 (god only know whether this will work!!)

After taking all this quotations I'm more confused

I guess 2050 has only 1 RCA preouts. Is it possible to connect 4 speakers (2 front/ 2 rear) with this unit

Can any1 give me inputs for pio 4050

I have them. Search the forum for a thread titled "new pioneer systems launched". But have not used other HUs to give you real feed back.
