“Save a fortune on great-performing customized car speakers. If done by an installer, custom speakers can run to thousands of dollars and your satisfaction isnt necessarily guaranteed. The best solution is to build your own. Car Stereo Speaker Projects Illustrated, by Dan Ferguson, is the one and only illustrated project book that will take you step-by-step through the design and installation of your own customized car speakers, with minimum tools and equipment. You get 20 complete projects covering both front and rear speakers for sedans, pickups, vans, Jeeps, and SVUs. Many of the designs appear nowhere else — and virtually all have tested in use and found to be significant improvements over conventional wisdom. Each project takes you from the circuit schematic to the construction of the enclosure to installing the system in the vehicle. This hands-on guide is loaded with hundreds of digital photos — plus design spreadsheets, Thiele-Small parameter measurement techniques, and examples of speaker design shareware in the Appendix”.

Most probably you cannot.
Car systems by and large are 4ohms system and most of the HT are 8ohms. Not that you cannot connect one but there's a chance that you'll damage your speaker. Check out if your amp offers both 8ohms and 4ohms speaker output.

Hi milind,

Can i have one sent to muni_bang@yahoo.com Please.

Another query:

Is there anybody who has set up a car sub for a home theatre..i have a Harmankardon avr5500 reciever and people say it can drive 4 ohm speakers without much of a pblm. My current setup does have a profx sub (8inch 75 rms) but it isnt bassy enuff.

I know it is possible and there are people wo believe that these setups are cheap and some who believe that it is worth every penny of it.

I wish to take this up as a practical experiment and would appreciate ur expert opinions on this.

I wish to have a 12 inch sub (200 rms max) and a suitable amplifier. The enclosure can be made big to suit the hall characteristics.

Thanks in advance.
