U should be purchasing and installing from maruthi show room right?
If u do it outside, your warranty is not valid.

Am I correct?

I won't think those will be happy to install outside item. Since you are taking Petrol version, they may come down.
I heared Pioneer is best with Sony Speakers.

u got some options in ur budget, i will leave it for u to decide:

Head Unit~
Pioneer 4650 = 6300 (RCA Cables Top Class, User Friendly)
Sony R330 = 6500 (Better G-Shock{anti-skip} than Pioneer)
many would suggest u to get 5650, but that HU is a waste without a subwoofer. (unless u want to add one in the near future)

Rear Speakers~
Pioneer 6990 5way = 3200 (most of our TBHPians own it, better than any sony speaker)
JBL GTO936 3way = 4000 (even better than the pioneer, deep bass)

Front Speakers~
Sony GF1621X 2way = 1200 (no competition, better than any pioneer or kenwood in this price range)

labour & wiring = 500-1000

setting up the rear speakers is upto u. in your rear tray or custom boxes on the sides. both can be tuned according to ur demands. if u need the rear space, tray is fine or else, i would suggest to put them in boxes.

*if i would be in ur place, i would pick the 4650 with the sony fronts & the JBL rears with custom 6x9 sealed boxes*

hope i could help
good luck (keep us updated & some pics too)
~cheers

hi gamer, to Pingme's queries I'd like to add some more of mine...

1. I'm buying a zen too
2. I'll mostly play rock, metal and electronica, but would also at times western classical and ghazals
3. I've been fascinated by a local pub here in delhi playing outstanding 70's and 80's rock. I like their sound a lot, it's loud but not harsh, and the minute acoustic guitar riffs easily come out as heavy lead guitaring and drums. I want similar experience in my car, the sound should be clear even at a reasonably high volume, but i know the constraints applicable in a small car.

Given, this would you make any changes in the suggested set up? Also i'd not mind stretching my budget a bit, but only a reasonable bit

>>*if i would be in ur place, i would pick the 4650 with the sony fronts & the JBL rears with custom 6x9 sealed boxes*

Cheers! Rishi

if i were to hazard a guess, i'd say i need a sub. but I am not sure...I am surely not looking to match that pub's sound just the outstanding clarity at a high volume..

And if i were to single out genres, rock and electronica will rule.. and for budget, can u please suggest best set-up for 3 ranges..I'll be sure which range to choose after a while:

1. 12k, 2. 15-16k, 3. 20k

well rock & electronica is a total contrast but i would suggest u to go for the same setup as mentioned above to pingme, only if u dont want to distort at high volumes, go for a sony 2 channel amp for ur JBL's. u will get double the output by spending extra 3k. i would also suggest pingme to do the same. its a one time investment after all.

hey green horn....
if you dont mind can i suggest somethin...
go in for
1.a set of components in the front and back.
2. a 4 channel amplifier driving them.
3. a single sub
4. a monoblock for this sub
5. a high end head unit.
cos i have similar listening tastes sometimes a good mltr/kenny rogers or some good house or psychadelic stuff...it pretty much suits all this.
in fact you can ask rudra and psycho they have heard my car.

the sub ranging from 3-5 k
head unit is pioneer-9k sony-15k alpine-23k
wiring and labour upto you.

for 10K
sony r3300+690g+160cx
or
sony r3300+6935+1621
or
JVC500+infinity 652.5+692.5

leave 2K for wires and installation.

for 10K more
sony 500W 4 ch amp+10" or 12" XSL woofer

BTW i have heard the pioneer 6990 and the GTO and the GTO really is a better machine than the 6990.

ofcourse if you have a bigger budget you can go crazy. i've seen some real big installs including one where the system cost more than the car. serious.

it was a 118NE (in 1989) with a system that at that time cost more than 5L. tara labs speaker wire etc....

alpine makes sense if you have 20K for for HU.
