well i have to revoke this thread as i really need to know if using a p1224 power series sub with JBL GTO301.1 mono is perfectly fine???

i ask this because the sub is 400w rms and the amp pumps out only 294w rms @ 2ohms

any answers? i already have the mono but i dont quiet like the current sub hence asking here.

EDIT: i dont like the current sub not because of the way it sounds but because its only 600w max and 300w rms and i strongly feel the difference between this sub and the cs1204 sub i have in my other car.

gurus i also need to know this, it the GTO series speakers 2 ohm or 4 ohm i am totally nuts on what to believe, the box says its 4ohms and behind the speaker/raw driver it says 2ohms and the site also says 2ohms but the jbl box of my both JBL GTO 607c and JBL GTO937 say its 4ohms with a tick mark.

please clear that up as well.

I think the box just mentions that the speakers are compatible with head units and amps rated to drive 4 ohms. All in all, dont just worry about the impedance at all and use it as you would a regular 4-ohm speaker.

The "2 ohms" on the driver and the site refers to the impedance of the speaker.
The symbol with "4ohms and a ticked HU" on the box says it works with 4-ohm HUs and won't be a problem if used with them.
Hope this helps

The Impedance of some JBL speakers has always puzzled me. It says 2 Ohm at some places, 4 elsewhere. I've posted it here, PM'd sam, and still no luck. If you do find out , let me know as well

well then its 2ohms speaker, i have these connected to the lovely GTO75.4 that drives around 140w rms X 4 channels at 2ohms so then this 70W rms component speakers are just doing fine with out jarring at 40% gains any thing above and 80% volume on my pio 6850 they start jarring so that kind of explains it 2 ohms.

thanks B&T

and hey guys what do you say about using the power series sub JBL p1224 with the JBL GTO 301.1 mono???

thats the only DVC sub from JBL that suits the 2 ohm impedance of the amp to get the max power output but its rated 400w rms and like i said the mono drives 294w rms @2ohms

just read the post number #48

rider, you'd be fine with P1222 as P1224 if i remember correctly is SVC 4 ohm. and yes, you'll be fine 294W being pumped in. Ensure that you get a good enclosure made.

okay then P1224 it is, they are both DVCs with different impedances take a look at the linkys.

i already have a enclosure well made for a sub like this, hope it works just fine, its a sealed box which is my preference.

IIRC, the JBL GTO speakers have an impedance of 3 ohms and not 2 ohms as is stated in the specs.
