Hi,

I have this amp in my Swift, it is attached to JBL GTO 1204BR sub and it sounds really good. I have asked Hamid (installer) to tune it to my liking and it is a superb sound. I haven't heard the predecessor JBL 301.1, So I can't comment of that. IMHO this sub is good for the price range and the specs.

You may enjoy a bit more when you are connecting this to a DVC sub.

Dinu's civic has this mono amp. Search for his thread in the show off section.
Yes, I have been using the 3501 for a few months now and I should say it is pretty good. I started off driving one sub (GT5 12) which was a 4 ohm sub, now I am driving two of these on a 2 ohm load and it works pretty good. I should say, it is very good value for money.

Suggestion: Always feed a 2 ohm load to extract its full potential (360W RMS) - either a 2ohm DVC, or two 4 ohm subs in parallel.

thats the sub you should be looking at for this amp. or a sub with similar specs, at least the impedance of the sub from another brand should be as the one above if its a dvc. it will go really well with that amp i am eying one and looking forward to get one to replace my current sub.
@ rider60 - any idea how much does that power series sub (P1224) cost.

otherwise getting 2 GT5 (2900 X 2 + casing X 2 ) is not a very bad idea either with 3501 though i do not have the slightest idea about the difference in performance of 2 x GT5 vs Power series P1224...?

Waiting for comments related to the price to performance ratio of the above 2 options.....

power series P1222 would cost app 15K per woofer with B&W. difference is sound is HUGE.

well there will be more sound and clarity with the p1224 (and not p1222 )

than using a couple of the 4Ohm subs, the p1224 is a DVC that belongs to the powerseries range of JBL's and will just simply rock with that mono.
i am yet to findout the price i think like panky said its around that price.

or here is what you can do

get the GT5-A3001 mono from jbl that costs like around 7000bucks grey! and get a jbl P1222 dvc power series sub which can stay 1 OHm stable which is the requirement of this particular mono, this mono gives a good 300w rms @ 1 OHM should be quiet okay for that sub. or get the JBL GTO 1202Dor JBL GTO 1502D for the 3001 amp.

AFAIK, p1224 (SVC 4 ohm) is not officially available in India, sam would be the best person to confirm.

Guys,

Sorry to ask this question again, have not got a clear answer yet.

Will the JBL GTO 3501 monoblock be a good combination with the JBL Powerseries
DVC sub P1224?. If yes, please let me know the approximate prices of P1224 in
grey and B&W.

Also will the JBL GTO 75.4 be a good combination with JBL Powerseries components?.

The reason to ask this is that I have the JBL 3501, 75.4 amps and want to upgrade to
powerseries DVC sub and components. Please let me know.

Thank you.

Hi

The JBL GTO 3501 amplifier Power Output is 225W RMS x 1 Channels at 4 Ohms 360W RMS x 1 Channels at 2 Ohms.

and The DVC P1224 Subwoofer you are looking to upgrade is Peak Power 1200W & RMS Power 400W

By this you can understand that the GTO amplifier is underpowered for the subwoofer you are trying to hook up

You better try and use a better amp as per my idea the JBL GTO Amplifier are by far the worst amplifier i have ever seen from JBL they are compromising on quality to cut cost

but the GTO 75.4 is one of the best which they have produced and you dont find them any more in the open market

My sincere advice is you retain the GTO 75.4 Amplifier and use a Kenwood KAC-9103D Which is priced about 13K and gives you 900 watts @ 2 ohms output which will suit the JBL Subwoofer with Max output of 1200 Watts.

lol.
I'm glad we have you to tell us these things. Lucky us.

So in your professional opinion - since when do you think JBL has been doing this horrendous deed to the customers of the world? Is this an educated and backed up opinion or just a blanket opinion?

Of course I mean to start no argument. You are entitled to your opinion and I respect your opinion, but please don't make your opinion sound like gospel truth. It's not. It is merely your opinion and that's all it will be.

I mean to start no argument as this is not permitted. You are clearly from the ICE industry and so am I.

There are many experienced and educated audio engineers on this forum (I do not claim to be one of them) who can smell a dungbomb a mile away.

Now to help the member:

Unfortunately that Power series sub needs more than just one GTO3501. You can run it for now, but be advised that you will need at least twice the power of that amplifier. You could swap it for another more powerful amplfier (any brand), or you could run 2 GTO3501s, one on each coil of the DVC.

Abhi ke liye, chalega, especially if there is a cash problem, lol.

Oh yes it will. If it is one set of power components, bridge the amplifier and run the components. You may think it's overkill but Gunbir once gave 300Wrms to each set of components and it sounded GREAT. Just make sure you have the appropriate HPF running (atleast 80Hz) and listen sensibly. Should sound lovely.

In India it is for about 40,000/- but recently some people have found some excellent deals on the internet from the US.
