Tweeters - can you identify these

Hi. Can the guru's identify the tweeter in the pics.
I just want to know if the pods are an attachment/accessory available in the market or these are a particular brand (if identifiable).

RAC they must be from the Rainbow range, they do provide such pods along with the component speakers. Just check with Gunbir, I think I saw them in Rainbow catalogue which indicates that you get them as standard fitments.

I doubt they're rainbows. Don't recall such a tweeter grille in Rainbow.

Reminds me of these Boschmann tweeters I almost bought a year ago. Come to think of it I think those were in glossy finish.

Lol. Those are JBL tweeters from the GT-5range of component spekers. These pods come with the box so you can either go for in door mounting or this pod on teh dash.

Pods like these have been around so long I cant even remeber. I think it was Vifa that first introduced pods like these (for the car) with their now venerable D25NC/D26NC (or what ever the first versions were called) in the early 90s or late 80s (somewhere between '88 and '93). Prior to car audio, tweeter pods were introduced to stave off baffle diffraction effects in home audio - Edgar Vilchur (yes 'he who taught Henry Kloss') demoed them in the 70s. I saw them stuck on top of the cabinets of one of his prototype speakers at a CES in 1980-81 or there abouts, when I asked, people there said they have been around for a while so it might be that someone before Edgar had this idea first.

see this book
http://www.chapters.indigo.ca/books/...9SUPElhtyPA%3d

I am not fond of dash mouting because in India an overzealous car cleaner can knock them off.
