how about those car - cassette adapters , that go into the cassette port and have aux in on the other end , work pretty good , bought one for 100bucks for corolla since it has an audio-cd + tape deck , has been working fine since 8 odd months , close to the CD audio quality when coupled to my sansa.

Well I tried using one. But found very irritating. You have to tackle a dangling MP3 player. Forward/Backward/Search is a pain. Then charging it another issue. After one long drive, I had to find an alternative solution.

At 800 bucks its a very good value, for people who want a bare basic FM or USB solution for their offroaders or backup cars. Expect taxi operators to shift from FM plates to this HU.

Pls post pics and details.

Saw an ad in today's TOI for this:

Branded Car Music System < 4 < Electronic Zone < Shopping

How good are these things? And is it useable with JBL components?

Arrey yaar , never get carried away by such ads. The advent of Chinese products & the like into the Indian market has triggered such ads appearing in the print media & on the internet.
If the product is branded why not mention the brand name?! They are just pursuading the uninitiated, ill-informed public into buying, since the word 'branded' is capable of trapping many in India. Stay away from these upstart-like ads & products.
You need to be very careful before buying anything today, especially electronics. Replicas which are nearly indistinguishable from authentic ones to the untrained eye are selling like hot cakes with rampant copying of label graphics as well.
Bottomline, don't get carried away, don't buy on impulse, do your research, think before you leap since the sale of such spurious products is encouraging malpractices & ultimately we, the customers are at the recieving end.

Seems it has No CD/MP3 slot. Just USB/SD/FM. Has to be sub-standard chinese product.

Is it reliable? Are you getting any service backup for this product?

Someone on a shoestring budget & who is not really an audiophile should take a look.

Sadly I couldnt ask him the brand &/or place to buy but since its a Pune Taxi I assume it should be available in Nana Peth in Pune.
