Are integrated audios theft proof?

my santro's stereo has been stolen twice and yesterday the kicker amplifier was gone (stolen from under the front seat)
got a new one fitted, at a cost of 9000

i want to know that if i go and buy i10 "sportz" with an integrated stereo, is that audio theft proof or do i have other options in the "kei-car" segment?

The best is take an Aftermarket HU and remove it whenever you park it at night.

Yeah I guess.

The Swift ZXi comes with integrated HU. Its not a detachable face plate. So taking it out is going to be a pain. Plus I think the thieves would be aware that the stock HU sucks big time So they might not bother.

Integrated HUs are not theft proof. Invest in a good security solution and leave the rest to the Almighty !

What is gone, the face plate ? Or did the thief manage to rip off the entire head unit ?

And where is it that you park your vehicle dude ?

the whole unit WITHOUT THE HU is gone from my residence parking lot.
it was a pioneer 3050, one of the most commonly installed stereos.

i still can't believe how can a thief rip off a stereo without a HU, which I still have.

yesterday amplifier was gone then the same evening spent 9000 on a kicker amp and now the stereo...

I had a cassettte/radio from Italy in 1985 - the whole chassis incl faceplate would slide out and I could take it to the house.
It"s also a function of where you park the car, the car in my indoor garage has never been touched, one parked in front of my house was subject to removal of HU and speakers!
Sid you have a thief who has studied your movements and knows the car. Probably the watchman or some insider.

I had my Pioneer HU ripped off when my car was parked in the floods of 26th July05. The face plate (panel)was with me.My Indica was ony 1 month old then

One can easily trace the guy from the are where it was stolen from and you can haggle your way to buy back your own HU.

I know a spare parts dealer in Milan Subway so I bargained and managed to get a hefty discount on the new system aand exchange my old panel with him.

Hey Sid now thats really bad. Getting the system stolen for third time. What part of East delhi do you live in. Now this is getting me worried too as I never cared to pull out the head unit from the car.

Also I insist to question the guards and restrict the movement of Kabadiwaalaahs and rikshawpullers who actually strike a deal with guards and team up with auto mechanics. Happened once in our area and have been caught red handed. But it sure seems someone has an eye glued to your car.

As for the integrated sterio systems. A friend of mine had bought the SX4 when launched. Armed with Icat he sat in the comforts of nothing happening to his prized possession but one fine morning to his horror he saw his complete dashboard pulled out. The thieves were possibly getting aquainted to the new integrated stereo technologies and chose his babe for doing the autopsy. It was a total mess they created there.

But to calm you down it wasnt an east delhi incident but happened in his Janak Puri residence. So east or west indian thieved are the best. Cruelty personified.

My thoughts exactly. Also, added to this, the integrated HU can generally be re-fitted only into the same make of car, so this would further reduce the 'marketability' of the unit.

Hey Sid, Sorry to hear your loss (repititive loss). Keep an eye and preferably keep the car parked at some other location.

Which part of Delhi you stay in ? as pointed out by others here, it cud be someone insider for sure, put a hungama at the police station, I believe it could help.

Balupunkt has a unique Insurance policy, as long as you can provide the HU to them, they will replace the whole unit in case of theft.
