I dont listen to audiobooks.

There is no specific advantage in merging the tracks. Its just individual preference. ASOT is a radio show which is broadcast in a continuous stream. However, many seeders 'manually break' it into individual tracks and it loses the charm of the show. Hence I prefer to merge them.

Right no? LOL!
I told you not to divulge the secret. the *64 Non Stop Dandiya Mix* goes very well with the *Navratri* color scheme of the Clarion 785.

Navinji, the track that I was referring to is actually not a single. Its a merged radio show.

How to check this?

Older or proprietary File systems *might* have a limit based on directory entry size (sector size x max allocatable sectors = max file size), but that is not a limitation here since the FAT16/FAT32 (and their CD equivalents) is what the HU is recognizing.

* The limit on the size of the stream that is to be decoded by the codec is only known to the application handling the stream or file (and sending the frames from the file or stream to the codec), i.e. at the time the file (or handle) is opened, one can query this data (or not, as in a true stream like internet radio)

* mp3 (or the related lossy or lossless ones) have only the *indicative* track time encoded in header - the stream (hence the file) *could* be much larger than that (of course we will call it an error). Whether there is more to come or not beyond the current frame, the codec doesn't know or care. This is the time that the application will display as the track time initially, or use for computing the remaining time. Check - the HU will have a setting to display track, remaining or already played time, one of which the user can choose. Already played time is default. What shows as remaining time for your long track?

* Playing time is thus derived from the frames already decodec by the codec and is what you are seeing displayed - discarded frames don't count. This can be internally reset by the application under certain conditions in the stream (not manually and not by chance). Are you playing a stream recorded from Internet radio or a (physical) radio station?

No Friend, I actually like my components I wanted to sell and buy 6.5" of the same. But after I auditioned 6.5, it was similar. May be I felt so because of the smaller doors of the zen. So they stay!

I chucked my 6x9 jbl and went passive and liked it more. Now for the rears, I Have a set of 6" MTX (not yet fitted). Sub is a 800 watt pio free air sub in a ported box. And amp is pioneer gm4000f.

HU: 5090 to 785
Front: Polk Momo mmc5250 (5.25")
Rear: Nothing
Amp: Pioneer GM4000F
Sub: Pioneer Free air sub (ported enclosure)

My fibreglass project is still pending due to lack of time. Will resume as I am planning a new sub and a 2 channel amp (dedicated for sub). Many FG things coming shortly

He is the after installation pics.

Couldnt resist and fitted the HU last midnight. TA is not perfectly adjusted. I will be working on as and when I am driving.

Its a beautiful HU with some small drawbacks that we all already know of

PS: Pic one has my USB port location empty. That is also pending as the USB port covering was a little bigger than that of pioneer. Some trimming required

Where can I get this now in India? Does Clarion India carry it now? And at what price?

@Shreyas, that Clarion is sitting pretty in your ride. A warm welcome to the Clarion 78x club. Keep it well protected from prying eyes. It's more bang for the buck than its pricier counterparts.

My two bit of suggestions,

01. You said that you have two sets of components, a 6'' Mtx set & a 5.25'' Polk. Check if the MTX sounds better than the Polk, upfront.

02. Wire the Fronts + sub to the amp in such a way that you can tap into the 3-way cross-over setting on the HU. Me thinks, with a good tuning fork, this should sound better than just the crossovers with the components.

Rest is upto your ears & the grey matter within.

Cheers

You may not find this here. Even if you do, it will cost you a fortune.
Try and find someone to carry it from US.

Yes mate. I will try switch polks with MTX and try before deciding. I have the plan of going active. But all this will happen when i have the new amp and the new sub. Till then I will enjoy the existing setup to the max.

Speaking about the prying eyes, It was show off time last night with some drinks. After giving friends a demo with TA, they were able to see the Instruments and singers on the dash (No exaggeration!) a bit of alcohol also added the effect .

My Impression:--

Oh man! this really is a fever!
First of all, I was in no mood to work due to the hangover after last night. I started from home with music as usual. Reached office and realised the time was 10.30am. HELL! I started at 8. I usually take 1.5 to 2 hrs max everyday. I was just lost in my own theater in my White Horse. The music was just awesome as some 785 owners have already stated. "Same songs sound different" "Can hear new instruments playing" "TA is a charm" etc etc.

From my side, Shreya Goshal sang more good, Sivamani played the percussion to drive me crazy, ARR collection felt new as they were released recently, The Disco King Bappi da gave me the weekend josh!

I will never regret my investment in this HU
