If you are going to Autobahn talk to Liyakat Chajju.

Unfortunately many cars like the Laura have their stereo systems integrated into the car's electronics. Functions like outside temp, date, time, etc.. are displayed on the same display as the stereo controls.

Since it is an OEM thing that got stolen, shouldnt all this be covered under warranty?

Edit : Ooops, I meant Insurance.

Theft will not be covered under warranty but might be covered under the insurance policy.

What I cannot figure out is how the thief got in, to steal the HU. As rightly pointed out by others, the OEM HU in the Laura is an integral part of the car (connected to the parking sensors, locking, A/c., engine & speed, etc. etc.) and can replicate quite a bit of the information available on the MFD in the instrument panel. So, if the thief messed with the wiring, he would have mucked up the wiring of the whole car, not just the music system.

Original spares and replacements too come with some kind of a warranty. Please check on this.

Some members here have reported that JMD is also a pretty decent A.S.S.

Cheers,

Thats what I thought too (since it is OEM), am I missing something? Ideally the owner should get any loss incurred due to theft covered under the insurance policy.

Hey Vincy,

Your insurance company should pay for a part of your stolen OEM unit. (Some plastic parts/electronics clause prevents them from paying for all of it)

Regardless of who pays for the new unit, your new unit should function perfectly and if it does not, take it up with Skoda and ask for a replacement.

Any update, did you get a replacement?

The unit that you replaced should have warranty for sure.
