Some Basic ICE for my Accent

I was happy with the basic Sony HU and 4 speaker setup in my car.
Then one fine day we organised a first meet for Chandigarh Bhpians,
and the main topic of the meet suddenly turned towards ICE,and i came across some Terms like SQL,SPL,Gains,RCA and all of which were Greek for me.I suddenly realised that i need to get out of these torque\bhp figures.

Then at the meet everybody was auditioning each other rides, nobody except me noticed that my Accent standing in a corner was hurling choicest abuses for neglecting her(i promised her then, that she would get some IC'Y treatment).

Few days down the line i started my IC'Y research for VFM stuff, and this where my set up stands now.
I am missing my Sony HU though for its nice LCD Display ,3 RCA outs and decent sound.
As of now a Sub is missing too but its gonna be added soon.

Head unit-From Sony FX5500 to Kenwood 5539

Front-Some Basic speakers to Bull Audio 6.5" compos

Rear Fills-JBL GTO 938 6X9'S

Amp-Blaupunkt GT4 MKII

Wiring-JBL all round apart from one Extra RCA

SUB-__________________________(You guys can fill in the blank).

Here are a few pics of the stuff
Abhi please post the rest.

The install took place last Saturday.

Equipment at that time:
1. Sony HU
2. Bull compos
3. Blau MKII Amp
4. JBL GTO 938
5. JBL wiring Kit

Hooked up everything started the system and we all were . Bull were so bright / harsh even more than JBL 607. The system was clipping even though gains were minimum. Then after some R&D found out the wiring harness had problem. Changed the harness and no clipping or jarring. But the setup was still bright. The midbass was not upto mark. Turned off the DSO on HU and it sounded better.

The EQ on Sony HU is of no use. No matter how much you adjust HIGH's and MID's, it will sound bright and harsh. Thanks to Sony atleast they provided witht eh option to turn off the EQ. With EQ turned off things started going back to how they should be. Mibass kick was better, tweet became sweeter. but sound stage was not bang on spot. Lowered the gains which were already set by installers at Puri Sons but of no use.

Played different test CD's and still found that tweet was brighter and vocals were harsh. I know for a fact that MKII is bit if a brighter amp compared to my fav transistor amp (KAC-8401), but its not harsh.

Called it a day after a lovely treat from Akshay and suggested him to change the HU to Pio or Kenny.

Now the ICE BUG bites him. He's listening to music in car at 2am. He calls me up on Monday evening and he is hell bent on changing the HU. Here is what i suggested him:

http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/produc...d-pioneer.html

Tuesday Morning i get a call that he will be reaching Chandigarh in the evening after paying a visit to Ludhiana. I wonder why does he visit to Ludhiana so much

By evening he decides that he wants Kenny HU within 5 - 5.5K. Checked out 2 of them. KDC-MP543 and KDC-MP5539. I found 5539 better in build but 543 had better looks.

Installed 5539, set the gains again, turned on HPF for Front and Rear. Now everything is singing. Vocals have improved alot, the harshness in tweeter is not there anymore, detailing level is better.

Tuning still left.

Rest of the Pics are below.

JBL does make wiring kits
and this one seems to be original, and Sam also put up a pic of this kit in one of the threads

If they have started making fakes in this packing then-No words.

@Panky AFAIK he is not commercially involved and he has not disclosed any plans for anything like this in future too.

jbl do make wiring kits and they cost 2800/- or so,this a 100% orignal wiring kit.and i doubt abhibh can go wrong with this he can easily make out which is fake and which one is orignal.
