Plank is required for Punto rear 6x9 speakers as the company fitted parcel tray is very light to hold these speakers.

Hi ICE Gurus,

I need your advise on getting the ICE done on my Getz Crdi that i am getting tomm.

Budget : Rs. 20 to 25K.

My options :

A: Get a DVD Player now and get a TFT a couple of months down the line.
B: Get a regular MP3 player and enjoy the music :)

I was planning on gettin a TFT screen installed a few months down the line as then would be having a driver to drive the car and i could relax. However, that choice (of the TFT, not the driver part:D ) has not found much favour amongst the dealers as well as family!!

Visited a couple of ICE dealers today and following are the suggestions :

Pioneer DVD Player - Rs. 9500 b/w - DEH 3190
Pioneer MP3 Player - Rs. 7000 - same model no as above, B/W.
Blaupunkt Hamburg - Rs. 8000 / 8500 - Has MP3 player + Bluetooth setup for answering calls etc.

Speakers - Rear :

JBL 6" - Rs. 2200 - CS - 265
JBL Oval - Rs. 2350 and Rs. 3000 by another dealer
Blaupunkt 6" - Rs.2700 - GTX - 663
Blaupunkt Oval - Rs. 2450 - Dont know the model no. From Dealer 1
Blaupunkt Oval - Rs. 3000 - GTX 693

For the front - 5" Blaupunkt - Rs.2600.

Am told that the punch of bass in JBL is better while for Treble - Blaupunkt.

As per the dealers, i would not require a AMP in any of the above setup. Also, the 6" speakers would fit into the doors itself, while the Oval speakers would need to be either fitted on the stock tray OR a wooden tray replaced.

Request you to please advise if the above setup is OK.

My choice of music : Regular new film songs, Kishore / Mukesh, A.R.Rahman. I do enjoy the hard punchy bass now and then.

So what setup should i go for...? Any other suggestions..

I need a bit of expert advice. I'm planning to add a 2" mid to a 5.25" component setup to make it three way
planning to add a first order high pass filter ( ie a simple capacitor in series :p)

what crossover frequency should be a good rule of thumb?

the mid came from a 6x9 of the same series. it was connected in parallel with the woofer

Hi,

I'm from Bangalore and am buying a Maruti Ritz Vxi from Pratham Motors, Queens Road Bangalore. I want to ICE my car.

The Ritz has space for speakers on each of four doors. I'm looking at Pioneer 5190 HU but am confused regarding the Speaker set up. I'm looking to install 6 speakers - 2 front doors (small), 2 rear doors (Component set up) and two on the rear parcel bench (Oval). The question is, what speakers do I choose and where do I buy them from? I can spend a maximum of Rs.13,000/- on the speakers.

Looking at the ICE Gurus for solutions, Please help.

Why do u need 6 speakers ?
You can install
6.5' component speakers in front doors.(JBL/Illusions/Bull/hertz) will cost u around 6-7K
a) coaxials in the rear doors or
b) 6*9 coaxials in the rear parcel tray
a or b will cost you max 4K.

Six speakers are not necessary, go for front components and 6x9 rear with plank. It will give a good effect. I had installed Infinity 6030cs compos and JBL 396 rear. It sounds very clear and has a decent bass effect.

Are you sure it was connected in parallel directly, with no cap in series?

If so, you wouldn't need a 1st order XO - it is already protected the way it was designed. You could, though, shunt out higher frequencies with a cap in parallel to the mid. Navin and LBM had commented in another thread recently on the desirable frequencies.

Just thought that I might as well use the space for four speakers and install two more at the rear parcel tray.
Not sure if 'JBL Infinity' is available as I could only see the following at their Indian website:

JBL Series GTi Series Power Series Grand Touring Series (GTO) CS Series BassPro Series GT Series GTO Series Miscellaneous Car T Series
What should I choose?

Not a good idea, @amoghmasur.

* The HU amp will find it difficult to drive both the rear door speakers as well as the parcel tray ones
* Even if you use an external amp just to drive them in parallel, sound from the ovals on the parcel tray will overpower the sound from the speakers in the rear door locations, so you really won't get any advantage

Use just the ovals on the parcel tray instead of both - bass from the ovals will be far far better than the ones on the rear doors.

I want to choose an amplifier for my music system. First My current configuration

1) Vehicle Indica Vista Aura
2) HU: OEM clarion
3) Front: JBL GT5-S265c Components
4) Rear : JBL GTO 947 6"x9" Ovals.

Currently I am driving all these good speakers with entry level head unit. Initially I was satisfied because at that time I compared output with OEM Speaker Setup. Now I am having feeling that I am under utilizing my speaker setup. And I can get significantly better output with addition of Amplifier. I want to drive all the speakers with an Amplifier so I need four channel amplifier. I dont want to spend lot of money on that. Based on this I have shortlisted following Amplifiers.
1) Sony XPlod XM-ZR704 MRP Rs.8990
2) Sony XPlod XM-ZR6042 MRP Rs.5990
3) JBL GT5-A604 MRP Rs.7990
I do not know actual prices of these amplifiers. But I am looking for Amplifier around Rs.6K. Please suggest me good amplifier with road price...

Thanks

Infinity is available in market, check out the availability in one of the stores (Autoshop, Autofusion, Sprocket, Evo, etc). I got mine from Autoshop koramangala. They gave a quote for JBL 295C comp and while installing the audio system they had no stock, so went for Infinity 6030cs though priced 2K more:Frustrati

There's a Blaupunkt amp (I think something like GTA4-MKII) widely available for about 5k with b/w. It will serve your needs perfectly. My second preference (first if you can stretch your budget) will be JBL GT5 amp. Search these forums for more details on these two amps.

Can somebody help me with models of 10" freeair subwoofers 300watts at 2 ohm available locally.
I might have to changeover to freeair to spare boot space.
