I need contact of a good box maker (dabba vala :P) in Mumbai.

Was talking to a guy (box maker) in Andheri ,JB Nagar but the person who works for him has gone to his "gaon" and no clue when he is back. He has kept me waiting for more than 10 days now.

Need a person who can help me make wooden performa for the from speaker on door and box for woofers.

Anywhere is Mumbai is good, but will prefer on central line. Any leads?

There is this 'Singh's Corner' at irla lane which has been constructing sub enclosures since years. Atleast I am seeing him since 16-17 years, can build anything as per the requirement.
I have got quite a few sub enclosures done from him for both home and car in past, construction is good.

There's an easy access to this lane opposite the HP pump, at Irla signal, Andheri W.

Hi,

Finally i got good time to spend with the box maker today. Trying to put words into picture.

Sub woofer Boxes(enclosures)-01.jpg

Fig A: Way i plan to place the boxes in the boot
Fig B: I need to know the port width in these new dimensions Vs the box dimensions suggested by DD site (Fig C)
Fig C: Box dimensions suggested by DD site

Fig A:
Woofers are facing each other with a space of around 8"-10" max spared between them. Ports of the both the boxes are facing the lid of the boot.

Q: Does sub facing each other at the mentioned distance kill the bass (have any bad effect of bass produced) ?
My guess is No, since the ports are facing the lid there should not be any such issue. But Need expert advice on this.

Fig B:
Need to know how much should be the port with on these dimensions.
Following image is the port size suggested for the box in Fig C above
Sub woofer Boxes(enclosures)-02.jpg

For your Concienence:
Length (24" DD suggestion) - (26"[bottom] and 21.50"[top] my thoughts. Plz note my box has a traingular slant on the non-port end in Fig A)
Depth (15.25" DD suggestion) - (13" my thought)
Height (14" DD suggestion) - (16" my thought)
Port Width(2.25" DD suggestion) - ( ? my thought)
Port Length(20.25" DD suggestion) - (? my thought)

Since my dimensions are a little different from the DD suggested size...what should be port length and width in my case?

Are these figures internal dimension?
Is the enclosure Wedge shaped? though it looks like one.

Dimensions given by DD site and my box are external.

Yes the box is angluar at one end. Giving it the backseat shape so that to box can be slided in as much.

my suggestion :
Length remain the same as you mentioned. ( technically length that you mentioned works as the depth in the wedge shaped enclosures)
Depth instead of the 13" i say keep it 13.5". ( depth that mentioned works as the width in wedge enclosure)
Height 16"
Port width will be : 1.5"
Port length: 17.5"
Port tuned at 35hz.

Tuning the port lower will increase the port length and in you case your internal length is limited to max 20"

I would also suggest you look into using 1" MDF instead of 3/4" for the enclosure looking at the output from the sub. In which case add .5" to every dimension i.e. Both depth, width & height.

WOW the bass is changed due o the boxes. Its become loud... but soft at the same time. Its become a mixture of SPL + SQL.

Woofers seem to be in much better control now.

Earlier box had a hammering sound.... it was great though, but felt like sound from chest.
These boxes a boomy, loud, soothing and it sounds like deep from within the stomach.

Will post videos in the appropriate section.

Invisible as per your suggestion i made got the ports designed.
