Alpine 9835 in my Skoda, my wife has an Alpine PXE650'd OEM HU and my mom has the 9987 (actually this is still to be installed). Each car has it's own ipod. No need to carry music (read as CDs) anymore.

no frills HU . decent quality, decent features. fits my usage and my needs.

  • Direct AUX-in by mini jack (front)
  • USB /iPOD connection: USB 2.0 (full speed) *
  • EEQ 3-band parametric equalizer ( who needs it... i dont)
  • 3 RCA pre-outs (front + rear + subwoofer)
Hooked upto a 8GB Sandisk pendrive.

I agree that the Display sucks. BIG time.
And the buttons suck too. YET, the head unit negates all of that by its MASSIVE sound quality and killer staging!

Ok announcing the arrival of the T-BHP Clarion DXZ785 gang on this thread. This HU has 3 6v pre-outs, USB, Aux-in, motorized faceplate, time alignment, 3-way crossover with speaker gain settings, 728 display colours, a special Navratri colour scheme, an F1/F3 (not sure what) car screensaver, slidetrack, catches only odd-series FM stations, remembers station names and even CD names, is sat radio ready, and plays more instruments than many comparable HUs. And of course, costs less than 10k if bought smartly from the US of A

Using Clarion DXZ785USB. It addition to the features comes with a 24bit dac, 3 band P.Eq, 6 preout for FL, FR, RL, RR, SUB L, SUB R, with internal amp cancel feature.
Costed me about Rs.5500/-
