thank you so much all of you for your reply.
i just went to a car accessories dealer. in a budget of 4000, he was offering me the following things-

1. rear mdf tray
2. 1.5 cu ft mdf enclosure
3. 4'' front components (didnt remember the make of the comps)
Is this a fair deal?

regards

i just went to a car accessories dealer. in a budget of 4000, he was offering me the following things-

1. rear mdf tray : 300 max
2. 1.5 cu ft mdf enclosure: 800 max
3. 4'' front components (didnt remember the make of the comps): 4" components will NOT solve your issues dear. Your ovals would still overpower them, unless you want to run (and ruin them) using your desi amp. For the time being.. let your HU run the rear ovals, use 2 channels to power your new 6.5" components. There are lot of brands in the market..go in for a reputed, well-known/distributed brand rather than buying crap and yes, listen BEFORE you buy! FYI, JBL 6.5" comps will cost you around 3800-3900 grey!

Is this a fair deal? : Not at all.

enclosure update

i would like to thank all the members who have helped me in taking the correct decision regarding changing of the big box.

i have got the 6x9 on the tray and a 1.5 cu ft box in the boot. this has inhanced the quality of sound in my car.

total expenditure-800 bucks. the break up is as follows-
1. box-400
2. tray-300
3. labour-100

next mission
1. to get components for the dash
2. change the amp

regards
SINGH

Good to see that you are doing the upgrades step by step.
That box looks cute for a 12" sub, will provide nice tight bass

Now coming to the components/co-axials for the front, I have an Alto too and I have auditioned various 4" speakers for the front dash.

For co-axials, I found the quality in the order Polk Audio > Blaupunkt > Sony.
Btw, Sony were really horrible.

Better option? Well if you can spend close to 5k and are ready to compromise on the front door pads, go for 6/6.5" components! This will involve fitting spacer rings in the front doors but the sound quality will be great. Search the ICE forum for installation pics/guides on fitting 6.5" in Alto.

If however, you do not want to compromise on the original door pads, then Illusion Audio offers 4" components for around 5k and they sound great!
You can connect the rear 6X9 co-axials to the HU and they will provide some of the mid-bass that the 4" comps will miss out.

Good Luck!

great. budget for the components is approx 4k. the major problem is the availability of orignal components. chinese stuff has made the market very dirty.

Congrats on the new enclosure and the mdf tray and its real cheap.

If you can get 2K more you can have lot of options in the 6.5" category.

Navin Sir, it's great to have Mr. Kapasi with us. The dealer offered me the fake kit but I insisted on the one whose pic was posted by Sir Yeti. I'm posting the pic of the packaging for your reference. The best part of it, I got it for about 1400 bucks in grey(+/- 100, don't remember clearly).

Congrats Singh. By the way, the pics have been taken in Masoodpur Market, right?

Moreover, which brands have 4 inch components? I shall get one for Xing.

yes tsk13, the pics were taken in masudpur market. got the work done from car plaza (amit). happy with the quality of sound.

you can go for bull audio or rockford. you'll get these for around 4k. this is what arush (autopsyche) told me.

Bull Audio website has only 2 components, none in 4 inches.

hi. thanks for your reply. the problem is not the budget, but that i dont want to do any modifications on the door panels. and in the dash, only the 4" components would fit.

Hi S.I.N.G.H

I think the weak link in your system is the amplifier.

SINGH..Good to see that you have made seperate locations for the co-ax's and the sub. The placement of co-ax's on MDF plank and the sub in a seperate enclosure would have signficantly lessened the high bass issue that you have highlighted. I presume now the bass would have become tight.

With regard to front components, even I have the same issue, for that matter I have a Chevy AVEO 1.4(not U-VA) and the front doors arent quite friendly to install component spkrs more than 5 1/4 ", unless the doors panels are modified. So i went ahead with a chinese spkr called TARGET that is almost like a component(doesnt have cross over unit), but the product was decsribed to me as an inline component spkr. It sounds pretty decent in my car and am sure for ALTO it would sound great as the cabin space is smaller. It costed me about 3.8k for a pair.

Or if you get your door panels modified, then you have the huge list of options available for front component spkrs above 5 1/4" right from Boston Accoustics, JBL, Infinity, Hertz that are some of the tested and chosen ones.

i believe infinity makes 4" components too! i read about it in some thread. is this true? today i had a survey of the accessories shops in lajpat nagar. surprisingly none of them had a 4" component assembly.
