Shoehorned the OE SX4 HU into a Ritz!!

I have finally managed to install the OE SX4 HU into my new Ritz LXI.

At first it seemed impossible as the sizes of the Ritz HU slot and the OE SX4 HU differ a lot. But in the end the result was worth the hard work.

The whole Process took around 3 hours and I spent a total of Rs 200/-

Pictures of the WIP & two 6 inch Nippon Co-Axial's.

These speakers were installed in the front doors. In fact these 2 are the only speakers.

The Nippon's cost me Rs 1200/- (With a bill + 1st year warranty)

Good effort, but the finish leaves a lot to be desired. The edges are not finished well, and the lower left looks like a lil too much was filed off. Are the contours of both the cars dashboards the same? coz the HU looks like its projecting out a lil bit.

Thanks, the yellow marks that you see on the lower left side, are actually made by a felt marker, which was used to mark the point / line where the blade would actually cut the extra plastic.

The SX4 HU does protrude a little but not much. I'm planning to use M-seal, so as to cover up the protruding sides.

Will be getting rid of the yellow markings tomorrow, as we had run out of daylight today.

Good effort maglev. it seems like a very innovative idea!

But the finish looks as if it could have been better and it also looks very dirty from the side ( which is due to the yellow marker i believe ).

And why did you put the sx4's head unit in the ritz? You could have opted for another head unit which would have given the center console a better finish.

Maglev, innovative idea but do improve it aesthetically. Awaiting the new Touchscreen.

This HU transplant was done primarily to facilitate the new Touchscreen HU in my SX4 because the SX4 is driven by me (80% of the time) and the rest of the reasons are:

1. OE SX4 HU would not fetch much in terms of resale.
2. Its simple and easy to use (Idiot Proof).
3. Decent sound quality for someone who only needs the radio (Hockey/Cricket Commentry + News).
4. The finish didn't matter that much as I'll save a lot of $$, by re-using this SX4 HU in the Ritz.
5. I had one OE HU with me.

The Ritz on the other hand will be driven by me or my bro only on Sunday's, as Sunday is the chauffeur's day off!

Get a tube of Black Silicone Sealant... (rs 100 for 100 grams)

And fill it in neatly on all four sides...

It you can do it neatly, It ll look great. The Silicone Sealant is removable with little force.

Thanks for the suggestion, I'll try it out tomorrow itself.
