CarPC Installed on Swift Zxi

Hi Fellow BHPians,
I have got my CarPC installed into IDIKA (Thats what I have named her, It means the Earth in Sanskrit). Its a Black Swift Zxi. She is a real beauty!

ICE Configuration:
1. 7" In-dash Lilliput Touchscreen. $185
2. Zotac MAG ND01 Nettop - 2GB RAM, 160GB HDD, NVidia ION Platform. $308
3. DLS Components in the front.
4. DLS 6 x 9 in the rear.
5. DLS Subwoofer.
6. JBL GT5 S644 4.1 Amplifier.
7. Pioneer 7250 Head Unit.

I paid 37K for the Non - Computer Hardware.

Got the Entire ICE installed with the stock looking center console from Anwar, Top Gear, Koramangala. Top quality workmanship! One would have to see it to believe it. The touchscreen fit is so well done, I am in complete love all over again.

Please provide all your valuble thoughts on the same.

That's seems to be a great setup. Can you provide a detailed guide on each of the components with pricing and sourcing etc. I don't mind driving down to Bangalore just to get this installed at the workshop, if ever I decide.

What all now can be done with Carputer?

Congos on the setup. Welcome to the carputers family
We need more pictures mate. I installed a carputer in my friends swift recently and I did a custom fit for the monitor. wasn't able to accommodate the side buttons, But in your setup it looks like you managed doing that as well. How did you do that? Can you post better pics of the install? Specially the monitor part ?

Tell me about it. It gave a fake sense of too much leg room.

I am running a trial version of Centrafuse, but would soon want to buy it with the Destinator Maps.

I should get the Itemized bill soon. I will publish the individual audio components price. The touchscreen and the computer are sourced from ebay.com. The prices mentioned are inclusive of the shipping charges through DHL!

What all can be done? Your imagination should be the limit. I am planning to connect a OBD2 scanner and have the screen display engine related stuff you saw in Fast and Furious. Watch this space!

Anwar got it done from a inhouse fibre glass worksman, Think he would not want to share it! But he should be more than willing to do it for you!

secrets eh? LOL
it's okay. But try posting better quality pics of the monitor and I'll figureout the rest.
How are you running your audio? Can you throw more light on that part?

AFAIK swift doesnt support OBDII cause swift runs on protocall 2 or something. Read it somewhere.

Ans1: No the HU slides just fine in the slot. May be Suzuki had this in their minds when they were designing. Only crib is that, the lip which stops the slide is slightly large than the panel and hence there is a slight projection. Will post pics on the same tomorrow morning, first thing.
Ans2: I have explained it below. Please refer it there.

King - i really wanted to run a RCA cable from the comp directly into the AMP eliminating the HU competely. But Anwar refused to install it saying, the signal would not be powerful enough to drive the AMP. So the stereo pin goes into the AuX in on the HU. And this HU has Aux-in in the front.

He took 7k for the entire setup. I would have paid him 7K only for the centre console.

Nisarg - I will definitely post pics in the morning, Cam's battery ran low and its on charge right now. Please watch this post in the morning.

Regarding the DC-DC power suply, For the Touchscreen, it came with a 12V DC car adpator, just directly connected it to the battery using a switch.

For the Nettop though, I used this. Again wired it to the same switch. This is like a direct switch not connected to the Ignition Key. Hence the machine does not switch on or off when ignition is started, like the HU which will restart on start.

My HU has its aux in the front. I could run my audio without involving the HU but for that i need one more amp cause I have to run my front, rear and the sub.

I'm still waiting for the pics. ( monitor's closeup pics )
