So, there is no way I can go to Maruti and get the horn changed.
How much would a good quality horn cost? But will this bad horn affect the audio system in any way?

Will MASS not say that the audio system has not been fitted by MASS and the electrical warranty is gone?

I have seen this in my friends WagonR and at some times in my Petra too.

When you use horn, it works on the principle of vibrations due to make and break contacts of the horn armeture, which induces a lot of noise (electrical) into the 12V rail (excuse me for using non-auto terms). Your audio system makes use of the same 12V rail and is likely to transfer the noise it hears to the speakers.

on the other hand, this noise may also have been picked up from radio ( as in my case)

To verify this try to find teh probblem when in CD mode and when in Radio mode. You may fond the diffenrece and more in radio mode.

Theory behind this is..
All electrical conductors are antennae, intentional or un-intentional
So they emmit or absorb electrical signal which flow through them. In this case Horn transmitted and your audio picked it up

Solution,

1. try changin the horn ( which maruti did for my friend) which may be faulty or a better one which is lees noisy electrically

2. use the capacitors as mentioned in the thread, u can also use on the audio side too

3. wire the audio and other electrical wire far from each other

hope this helps

DRC, that is okay. I am not much of an automotive chap. I am basically an electronics hobbyist. So I am familiar with the 12V rail and armature terminology.

I have already checked and the noise is there in both CD and the radio are playing.

I can go to Maruti and ask them to change my horn. First thing is, I installed the whole audio system myself. There is a good chance that they will turn this thing around to me and say that this happened since the audio system has not been installed by a maruti authorised service centre.

Interconnects and speaker wires are on one side and the power cable is on the other.

Trust me vivek , go to any MASS service centre and ask them to rectify the problem and get u a new horn .. Ask them to change the horn and see if the noise still persists.. If it works good , if it doesnt then we might have to take another route .. If the MASS guys argue on the installation of the system part , heck tell them to take a hike .. Give me a buzz and il get it sorted out .. My uncles owns a MASS btw :-) ..

How much will a decent Bosch horn cost? The OEM looks like a real cheap one? Where is your uncle's MASS? I don't even know if the real problem is with the horn.
