If the bus code is on schedule, why not body builders with their offerings? After all, we ought to be seeing a significant move towards organised body building.

There were indications earlier(2008) wrt to vestibules from TM, but program was shelved. They could kick start and come out with SLF based Vestibules. That will be a game changer.

A Y1-based Tata-Macopolo bus was displayed even at the previous Auto Expo. Here's an excerpt from an old press report:

Quote:
Debasis Ray, spokesperson for Tata Motors, India’s largest automotive firm by revenue, confirmed that the company has developed a light commercial vehicle platform, which can spawn vehicles for both goods and people transportation. He added that the launch of any product based on the platform is some time away. Ray said in an email response that Tata Motors had showcased the possibilities of this platform in the form of a bus at the New Delhi Auto Expo earlier this year.

TML recently showcased Y1 based first product in the recently held School bus exhibition at Hyderabad. Its named as Starbus Skool with WB of 5200.
The spec was extremely good!
24V batterly
235/80 Tubeless tires
Wide windscreen(matching Lynx)
wide sweep vipers
Extremely good finish interiors
Dash board mounted CSO
vehicle width was upto 2.3m and hence it has Wider(est) gangway - Still 3x2 is not feasible.
A proper bus body code approved door at FOH.

we may anticipate new models rolling out in near future!

Over all Nice job by TM

Was it Tata-Marcopolo? Post a pic if possible.

Y1 being LCV/ICV platform, 3X2 would indeed be difficult unless the body is made to overhang sidewards which would have its own issues.

Here are the details of new Starbus Ultra Skool on Y1 platform from TML. Having seen this bus in flesh, i feel the TMML could have improved the dashboard, front face FRP finish etc. Overall good job by TML.

Does it use the new range of engines? I can't read the specs in the brochure due to small size font. Exactly what are the new things?
