Re: Tata launches Divo and Starbus Ultra Buses

@Jalsa, thanks for that .. pics give a pretty good idea of these.
Quote:
jalsa777 : Wide aisle thanks to the new platform. Its genuinely comfortable to walk along this bus.
The bus has a 2x1 config, that's why. Put in regular 2x2, and the aisle will shrink back to normal.

Quote:
jalsa777 : The seats were branded Royal Comfort !!
Not a real issue, actually. The comfort will count. And how well they will age - without issues like levers getting stuck etc.

jalsa777 : Bad finishing even on this one.
:( Bad.

The width of the bus can take only 2x1 in the reclining seats option.
If its a normal bench seats it can take 2x2

Buddy, I was referring to the Star bus Ultra(A mini bus) and not other buses. The mini buses here are not wider to take 2x2 seats in reclining config - Lynx is the only exception here.

Nice report Jalsa.

The cooling module is on the left side of the engine (as seen from the back) but the cooling vents on the body panel is on the right. Is this to reduce fan noise?

Those are region specific and what you see may be true.
I have no region specific data to compare.
Force Motors have close to 58%(TM 27% and M&M 14%) including Traveller in the sub 5T category.

That's to facilitate the exit of hot air on all sides.
In Volvo B9R whose RFD is facing LH body, but still there will be louvers on RHS.

Re: A Detailed Look at Tata's Divo & Starbus Ultra Buses

Those tyres on both Divo and Starbus Ultra look a size down. Is it just me or the pictures not doing justice to the overall look?

Its the same feel that you get viewing a Nano, that size bigger would make the vehicle 'look' more stable.

Re: A Detailed Look at Tata's Divo & Starbus Ultra Buses

Highlights:
  • The range starts from Rs. 66 lakh, ex-showroom Thane.
  • The body design comes from Hispano Carrocera of Spain, a fully owned subsidiary of Tata Motors
Love your ex showroom quote. Thats got to be 1 big showroom to drive this out of....

Quality policy or should I say philosophy at TML is the same across all vehicles.... As long as they are VFM propositions, customers will overlook the shoddy finishes. Starts from the Nano and goes right up to the Givo

God forbid this attitude permeates to the crown jewels (JLR)

Is it just me or have the dials of the Divo been lifted from the Linea?

Re: A Detailed Look at Tata's Divo & Starbus Ultra Buses

Look wise both the models wont score many points.

Star bus Ultra has a weird low waist line uncommon these days for long distance routes and the Hispano's front end has got a oval shape which is sour.

I dont think Tata Marcopolo buses in TNSTCs are doing good. Bodies already started shaking and the floor got cracked and some patch works was done already in Madurai.
Amount spend on maintenance is also getting increased day by day. Some of them already started becoming a Polluting vehicle. Vibrations that are coming in the front seat are really really bad in the marcopolo.

TNSTC-Coimbatore already modified the glass and front profile for few marcopolos. TNSTC-Madurai is trying to maintain them, still i feel JNNURM AshLey SLFs are good compared to Marcopolos.

Few discussions already happened related to Marcopolos. You can check the following.

Tata Marcopolo Starbuses are already available in South India for private operators. There is already one operator in Kerala (UFO) uses this bus. Please refer the post here (including PDF manuals).
