re: Chevy, Mitsubishi, Panasonic etc. @ The Bus & Special Vehicle Show, 2015 Aska Equipments
Aska Equipments had an interesting display at the event. The stall showcased a variety of emergency & hazard tackling products:
The fogmaker - an automated fire detection+suppression system that is set up around vehicle engine bays:
The fire detection trip wire. Once temperatures hit 180 degrees, this wire will snap & activate the fire extinguishing water mist:
Aska says the system is already in widespread use in European public transport:
A grab from a video that shows how the system actually works on the inside:
Water mist fire & CAF extinguisher. Available in 10L and 15L variants, the cylinder contains water and a fire fighting foam additive. Many fire departments in India are already using this, and the extinguisher is also deployed on custom response motorcycles that a few fire departments have purchased:
Portable inflatable light tower. The system inflates to a height of 4.5 metres from the ground and uses a 400W light that illuminates an area of around 10,000 sq.mts. This tower has been used at multiple hazard sites such as construction mishaps and bore-well accidents:
This light tower is inflated by an inbuilt petrol generator that powers two blowers. Total weight comes in at around 45 kgs. Currently in use by 17 railway zones of India and even by the BSF among many others:
HeartSine Samaritan PAD 500 Defibrillator. The system can evaluate a patient's ECG, and determine if de-fibrillation is needed. Energy levels range from 50J-150J-200J:
FastACT chemical neutralizer. The solution works on acids, caustics, toxins and solvents. This is supposedly the only product in the world that provides an immediate response to neutralize toxic chemical vapour and off gassing. Services such as metros will hopefully employ this product:
