Re: BharatBenz range of trucks ready for BS-IV emission norms Excellent! Daimler India shows the environment-friendly way forward! They literally come across as a breath of fresh air in an extemely lethargic industry. No price hike for the new BS4 range either! Quote:
Commercial vehicle-maker Daimler India Commercial Vehicles Pvt. Ltd. on Friday launched upgraded trucks complying with BS IV emission norms but announced no price hike, with a top company official saying it hopes to be profitable next year.

Unsurprisingly, BharatBenz folks are quite happy that the Hon'ble SC banned the sale of BS3 vehicles after March 31. While the CV industry was saddled with 90,000+ BS3 vehicles, BharatBenz was left with only ~ 200 BS3 vehicles: Quote:
The Supreme Court recently banned sale of vehicles not complying with BS IV norms.
"The Supreme Court made a wise decision. The industry running up BS III vehicle inventory of 97,000 is not by accident but intentional," Nesselhauf said.

BharatBenz trucks use urea-based AdBlue injection to cut down on harmful NOx emissions (just like Mercedes cars!): Quote:
The truck's emissions complies with the new regulations with the use of an aqueous urea-based fluid called AdBlue, which is sprayed into the exhaust stream to break down dangerous nitrogen oxides emissions into harmless nitrogen and water.
The consumption of AdBlue fluid is only a fraction of fuel consumption, so refill intervals are fewer. The fluid is available at all BharatBenz dealerships.

And finally, Daimler have deservedly used their relative environment-friendliness and well-intentioned, superbly-planned shift to manufacturing BS4 trucks as an effective marketing tool. Even before these BS4 trucks were launched, I could spot internet advertising, such as the following one: Bravo, BharatBenz!
