Or maybe its just that the looks are not final and may yet change on the final product. But the comments made above sound logical to an extent.

This truck is gonna rock with an extended roof, sleeper cabin and a Cummins ISX 600 motor with the best automatic gearbox money can buy. Dress it up like MAN's TGX V8 and it will ROCK!!

I think they're exporting all they produce, because DXB is full of these trucks over the last one year. It has probably got something to do with the inability of the biggies like Volvo, Scania and M Benz to supply enough trucks/tractors to this booming market - Volvo trucks are allegedly booked through till 2011 according to my source at the dealer here, as the parent company sends only x number to each market.

Hence the chinese and tata are having a field day - the chinese with their buses and Tata with these trucks.

Steer, the TATA NOVUS trucks what we see in DXB are Daewoo ones and i think these are manufactured in Korea. TATA's new range trucks are still under testing.

True. When the Daewoo heavy trucks were made Euro-III compliant in Korea, the range was designated as Novus by Tata. Novus is made in India too, although with a different engine: 8.3 litre Cummins 'C' series supplied by Cummins India Ltd. Most of the truck parts are imported from Korea.

The Tata World Truck project was conceived long back; even before Tata acquired Daewoo Commercial Motors. It's a bit surprising the product hasn't been launched yet. Probably the acquisition of Daewoo truck division has diminished the project's importance for Tata. Daewoo acquisition gave Tata a readymade heavy duty world-class product that the project aimed to create.

The project is being monitored from Korea now. It's possible the brief to product designers has changed.

A small write up on Novus:

Thanks for the pics hanmust. There is also a 6x2 tractor of this cab design which you can frequently see on the highways around Pune too. The interiors of this one (I only had a quick glance once) are quite nice, with AC vents visible next to the steering wheel and a host of buttons.

PS : A new 709 class vehicle is also being tested by them.

Spotted Nissan MGV under testing at busy Chennai road, Model name Canxxx (could not complete reading it in signal). MGV- Medium goods vehicle sized about the Swaraj Mazda. It was fully loaded with some blue colored cans, filled with some materials. OnTest is mentioned in both front & back.
