PS : A new 709 class vehicle is also being tested by them.
Thank you for sharing more informations!

Tata's 'World Standard Truck' launched

Tata has launched its 'World Standard Truck' range. Its a strange name to give a new product line up, perhaps highlighting the substandard fare Indian CV makers have been dishing out so far.
But this does look very impressive, INSIDE and out. I have only read the reports so far, perhaps fellow bhpians can shed light on the same once they've had first hand experiences. Here are a few highlights
  • The truck has been developed with collabration from subsidiaries Tata Daewoo, Korea and Tata Motors European Technical Centre plc, Warwick, U.K.
  • Designed by Stile Bertone, Italy.
  • Engines in power ranges of 150 to 560 ps (Cummins), Auto and manual Gearbox options (ZF).
  • Haulage from 10 to 75 tonnes.

Just looked up the review on Zigwheels - the trucks look awesome! Sad name though and not expected from a company that came up with innovative names like Indica, Indigo, Nano..

True, I hope this 'World Standard Truck' thing is a stop gap denomination, and it gets a better name it deserves.

Tata Motors World Standard Trucks range.

Press Release

p.s. : World Standard Trucks is the name for the range, and there is nothing wrong with naming the range in this way as long as the trucks are good.

Guys do you really think that the target consumer would care about the name ?

Saw a couple of these two nights ago on the road between Mahalaxmi and Lower Parel.

They are HUGE and look great. Saw a shiny yellow dump-truck version too!

Any idea on price? I hope they are not in the Volvo league, as that would limit their numbers to a very modest number. This will defeat the whole purpose of modernising the Indian truck market.

OT: What happens to Tata Novus ? this looks way more modern than the Novus
