As per Ashley's request, let me try and furnish a list of M&HCV models for everyone's help. Again, though the list is to the best of my knowledge, it may or may not be complete or correct.

Haulage models:
1. LPT 1613 TCIC (Tata 697 engine)
2. LPT 1613 TC (Tata Cummins 6BT enigine)
3. LPT 2515 TCIC
4. LPT 2516 TC
5. LPT 2518 TC
6. LPT 3118 TC
7. SE 1613 TCIC ( I am not sure whether this is still available though)

Among all the haulage models, the Tata 697 enigine sales are not very high, less than 25%. Also here are some export specific models, like the 1618 and 2523 in the haulage section.

Here the trucks may be ordered in cowl only form, which is almost always the case, or in fully built form with the EX range cab and a load body. The cab model sales are almost exclusively exported, but are available in India too.
Tippers:

1. SK 1616 TCIC
2. LPK 1616 TCIC
3. LPK 1618 TC
4. LPK 2518 TC with two gearbox options

The 1613 models were not finding many customers, and thus were replaced by the 1616 model a few months back. Here too there is an export based LPK 2523 model available.

Here the LPKs can be had in either normal cab, called the big cab, or the EX tilt cab. The 2523 export model is only available with tilt cab.

Tractors:

1. LPS 4018 TC
2. LPS 4923 TC

Both of these can be had with either standard big cabs or Ex tilt cabs. There is no longer a specific 35ton tractor available, the LPS 4018 when used with a 2axle trailor is a 35ton GVW vehicle.

Other than these there are the Prima 4028S,4928S, 2528K and 3128K models also available from Tata.

@ Julupani, I was only looking for engine variants say its in BSIII its from 697 and 6BT with 160,180 HP and so on.Anyway thats ok.
I believe you are not telling , since there is no(read as manufactured) 35T tractor its possible to buy a 40T tractor and get it registered as a 35T with 2 axle trailor.

If you have a 2axle trailor attached to a 40ton tractor it is rated as a 35ton vehicle.

But do you have to register a trailor along with the tractor?? Can a tractor owner use the vehicle with multiple trailors??

As for your query regarding emission, sorry it slipped my mind.

All the models are as of now BSIII, no BSIV models are available on the market as of now.

For conversion to BSIV, I am not sure how much of the present engine line up will remain till the time BSIV introduction comes. The Cummins engine can be made BSIV compatible, but I dont know whether Tata will convert its 697engine for BSIV.

I expect Tata to move to a newer in house engine for BSIV compatibility, and even move to the next generation Cummins engines. Among the present engines that is availble with a BSIV engines, are the Tata 497 engines, and the next generation ISBe engines from Cummins, in the 6cylinder 245hp and 4cylinder 160hp versions. And of course the CNG engines are available in BSIV. Let me remind you again, these are available only in the b uses and not the trucks as of now.

Looking at how Tata is presently moving towards BSIV I think they are looking to phase out the present engines, before introduction of BSIV nationwide.

This is the problem!
A trailor have to get registered along with tractor.
It cannot be used with many tractors.
So now we need to get a 40T trailor and use it for 35T with a 3 axle trailor.

What do you mean regular hauling body? The LPT2516 is not a tipper, its a standard haulage model only.

The typical body built on all the 12 and 10 wheelers. The semi-box like structure built on the frame behind the chassis.

Is there any kind of terminology for that?

Sorry, I still dont get it.

Do you mean a load body, which was built by Tata with a cab like those which come with 709s 909s and 1109s??

May be a picture would help.

Isn't this the "typical" body?

Example of an AP truck with a TN-type fabricated cab. Very odd. The color scheme and the overall style suggests that it's 100% AP. Usually in AP the cabins are fabricated according to the original cowl, but these 12 wheeled ALLs seem to be an exception from time to time.

And the other pic: Same model with original factory cowl oriented cabin build

Well, this is most definitely a typical body. But how is it that you havnt seen a Tata LPT2516 with such a body before. The 2515/2516 is probably the most prolific 3axle truck today. Stand on any major highway, and I am sure you will spot one of these in less than 15 mins. Agreed, the 2515 initially outsold the 2516, but that has not been the case for the last few years.

Which is exactly why I thought you were referring to something else.

AFAIK,

1. LPT1613 is no more avaliable as its was a BS2 model. Currently LPT1616 replaces it. (with 697TCIC EDC BS3engine)

2. SK1613 was the hot selling model in kerala with more than 80% market share in 4x2 tipper segment in Kerala. But currently its replaced by SK1616, a BS3 version.

3. LPS 3516 was avaliable and now its replaced by LPS3518 (BS3). Its is in high demand in Kerala.

Sir I think you still didn't understand me.

What I saw looked like this: (it had no lift axle that's why the LPT 3118C lift axle is removed)...Excuse my horrible photo-editing skills please.

Perhaps this is common in your part of India but I have never seen this anywhere even though the model variant exists according to TML website.

@D33PAC

Ok, you mean to say a LPT2516 with the original Tata cab. Which is what I was asking for, that is did you spot it with a Tata cab and load body.

True, the old 2516s with the big cab are very rare indeed, not to mention not available anymore. If you want a Tata cab, you have to take the EX series tilt cabs.

@Transsenger

The 130hp 697 or 6BTs are still available on the haulage series in BSIII form. Though unlike ALL, there is no non-EDC inline FIP model from Tata. In tippers they were replaced with the higher powered 1616s because of market feedback, asking for higher torque than the 130hp engines about 450Nm, against the new 1616s 600+Nm of torque.

Also like I mentioned the 3516 model too has been discontinued, for quite some time actually. Only two variants, ie the 4018 and the 4923 are available today. There is no difference between a 35tonner and 40tonner for the manufacturer at all. The only difference lies in the number of axles in the trailor. Earlier a 35 tonner would be provided with slightly less power, but due to lower demand, this model was discontinued leaving only the 4018. And even when you register a 4018 with a 2axle trailor, its max permissible GVW remains 35tonnes rather than 40tonnes, according to the bridge formula.

Spotted a few LPT 3118Cs being delivered. Interesting they dont come with headlights in the cowl but only on the bumper.

Also spotted a heavily damaged VOLVO puller . Both pullers are different, the undamaged one was spotted a few KM later.

Spotted a custom built ALL 12 wheeled Tipper. Amazing, I've never seen a tipper body that long.

BTW, what is the purpose of the interesting gadgetry behind the TML tipper?

Spotted the MAN CLA 25.220 6x2 too.

I've noticed these Indian built trailers aren't good enough for carrying really heavy raw materials. Recently spotted a TML tractor exactly like the one in the pics with a trailer similar carrying a humongous piece of granite, the whole trailer flexed and curved!

Hey D33-PAC you are fortunate enough to shoot pics sitting in your lobby ( as I could see almost all the fotos except the last few are taken from the same place).
More over a Volvo puller getting hit this hard I have never heard.
At any time it cannot go beyond 40kms. Even if its hit by a opposite side vehicle there should be amle time for that guy to react. No clue how this had happen.
This cab has got damaged like our Namakkal cabs. Almost smashed!
