Dear Gannu,
That's really neat DIY. Fantastic work. Would you mind sharing the cost of the DIY?

No this is not possible with this OEM light because the spring activated tab on the light would push only towards one direction. It cannot be kept on the RHS hinge of the glove box. With an independent light and a microswitch this may be possible.

The light cost me 10 USD from Aliexpress. The fuse tap cable was a complement sent along with the light by the dealer. In any case, the DIY should set you back by less than 800-900 Rs.

IINM, this has something to do with a lever on the tail gate touching a switch which shuts off the light. Check out that boot mat which is a standard fitment for the Polo sold abroad with a proper handle and lock!

I have done a simpler workaround for the light by using an Energizer cabinet LED lamp screwed beneath the parcel tray - link
How about a motion sensor activated light? Something like this:

One of the pics shows it fitted in the boot of a car.

That would be pretty easy to setup. And a standalone one at that.

I've figured out where the terminals of the OEM boot light (W35) connects to. It connects to the dash panel wiring harness (A23) where the central dome light and the footwell lights are wired to. The other end is ground (98) when the circuit is closed.

From the current flow diagram:

Gannu ji I have installed pioneer f60bt for that I have used coupler that provides +12V and ground is also provided. Can we use that as source instead of using a fuse tap cable

Best to use a source with a separate fuse. Leave the audio part untouched.

Yep, shouldn’t be a problem. It provides 12 V at all times even when the key isn’t inserted into the slot. Why don’t you use a scotchlok connector and tap the 12V from the reverse light bulb cable instead? The cam needs to be powered on only when the car is in reverse and the reverse bulb lights up. You will not have to run the power cable all the way from the front to the rear as well.

PS: Sorry for the late response guys.

Thanks. But I need one going to the reverse light , one positive and one negative. And the big camera wire goes behind the rcd510. I'm thinkin of taking the 12v and the negative from the rcd510.
Where did you get the add a fuse taps? Can't find it locally here..

Negative can be tapped from the body of the car - there should be one above one of the rear footwells, welded to the body. Do check.

Avoid tapping the power cable from the HU. Best to leave it untouched to avoid issues in the future.

Add a fuse tap cable was sourced from Aliexpress.

Gannu, is this slot active only when IGN is ACC\ON or during OFF also?

During off as well. I wanted it this way since I don't intend to put the key in the slot every time the glovebox light has to be on. It doesn't consume any power when it is closed either so no battery drain issues.

I wanted to use a slot for Auto dimming IRVM which activates only when IGN is ACC\ON. Have you found such slot in any of these unused slots?

No. 16. Turns off with the key in off.

You are a real Technical guy Gannu.
Just curious to know why didn't you use this slot for your IRVM DIY (do not know if this is the right thread to ask this question). But instead all are used from the Interior light including Foot well lights.
Just wanted to know if the harness for Interior light support this much load though it is rated as 10A for the Fuse 21 if I'm right?

That was for the previous mirror. The OEM anti-glare mirror is now connected to fuse slot 25 which is as per VW's factory spec:

Easily. None of the consumers have halogen bulbs in them. They are all LEDs. Footwell lights (4 W5W), cabin lights (2 W5W), 2 puddle lights (rated at 1W each).
