Mods like these give palpitations even while reading through, I cannot imagine what you were going through while doing them.
Kudos on your success or should I say achievement !clap:

This thread is stupendous. An engrossing read and hope this give me the inspiration and patience to try out similar DIY mods. The selected mods are also very tasteful and appropriate for a gem of a car like EcoSport !

Wow, this is very cool! Welcome to the forum!

If only I were older and had the means to splurge on customising my own cars...it’s painful to just watch :uncontrol

Wonderful mods to say the least! I too want to change the instrument cluster in my Ecosport from the dreadfully plain one to the one that you have. However, searching for the product gives results for many different product codes, including GN15-10849-CFM, GN15-10849-CFJ and the like. Is there any place where I can check for difference between these variations before ordering?

Wow Sir!

Very well executed DIY, I must say. Ecosport interior, especially the front, offers a premium feel (in the segment) and with these mods it has gone to altogether on another level.

Oh wow!! This a DIY lover's wet dream!!! Congrats on successfully pulling this off! I am still under warranty with another 3.5 years to go so as much as I would love to have the flat bottomed steering wheel I think I'll give it a miss! I might try the ST splash screen though, looks slick!

Also do you mind sharing a link of sync update. I'm not on FB and I cant view the post of sync3.4 update without being a member! Thanks!

Thanks Toothless, There are wide range of part numbers for ecosport instrument cluster , But as far as I know The GN15-10849-CFM is TFT , Its complete black on ignition off, Other will have the rpm , speedometer gauge visible even on ignition is off. And the last one will have small display as we got till 2018. But the functions are all same, Just see the image and buy it. The product will be same as displayed on the ad image.

Actally its Jithin's Post.

Amazing DIY thread, well done!! this instrument cluster really adds to the looks over the otherwise BLAND instrument cluster.

Didn't notice anyone else asking nor you mentioning that this seems to be the AT variant's gauge cluster. Does that make any difference in the functioning?

Just asking out of curiosity, forgive me if this has already been explained.

Yes, the cluster is AT variant. But after the module configuration programming, I hardly notice it. And i brought it for 5.4k , So im satifised with it . And I also get gear change notification on cluster. I belive all the clusters manufactured are same for AT/MT , Only the module programing differs. I hope you got the answer.

Yes, This is what I was wondering. Thank you! :)

Excellent write up, great job! You are a brave man to tackle these upgrades! Must have taken a lot of research, well done. I have very good experiences buying via Ebay. I like the rating system, it is a good indication on whom you are dealing with. Most sellers are very sensitive about their rating and feed back. So if you have a problem with a delivery from them, they tend to bend over backwards to help out. Refund, send a new item, as long as it keeps the feed back positive! Works really well. I also like the fact that on Ebay both the seller and buyer make a direct commitment on buying/paying/shipping. Lots of other marketplaces have much looser arrangements. You might think you have won a bid, but it might still go to somebody else. Ebay is simple and very transparent in that sense. I have been buying stuff from all over the world, works really well. Just make sure to factor in the transport/delivery charges when you hit that buy button! Bought my Jaguar XJR of Ebay!!

A few additional thoughts/comments: When working on cars, no matter what job, it really makes a lot of sense to always disconnect the battery. I recently undertook, what I thought was just a little non electrical job, did not disconnect the battery, and ended up shortening out two fuses. (Which is really silly as all my cars have quick connectors fitted on the battery ground too.)

When removing air bags it is advisable to remove the battery connection at least ten minutes in advance before commencing work on it. The idea is that the system might retain a charge (capacitor like) and it could still trigger the airbag. I am never sure whether that is entirely true, but I do believe this is a case of better safe than sorry. If that airbag goes off whilst working on removing it, it can do some real harm, possibly kill you!

Even so, there are two items on a car I am always reluctant to work on: springs and airbags! Can cause a lot of grieve.

Interesting about this FORScan tool. I had not heard about this tool before. I will look into it getting one for our Fiesta/Ford too.

All thanks to Naveen and his post on TeamBHP forum that I got to know such a fantastic way to swap my instrument cluster with his kind help!

Few days back with the help of a fellow member (Raghunathan TE) of Facebook group EcoSquads of which even I'm a active member of got the instrument cluster procured from eBay UK website and approached Naveen Kumar for the important and entire process of programming and installation!
A humble and kind helping nature of his was something impeccable!!

The odometer reading was just about 153kms when installing the newly procured cluster which means it was hardly used and it's April 2019 manufactured ST Line variant (international top end variant of EcoSport) cluster so completely satisfied!!

All the icons along with Cruise control and traction control icons work very well as NAVEEN had installed the same firmware which was running on my stock instrument cluster! But the new one lacks the icons for fuel filter and engine glow plug!!

And I can now get info about the calls on the odometer itself along with changing and selecting the audio source same as titanium s cluster does!!

Completely contented with the upgrade and a investment worth every penny!

Benefits of Upgrade:
-Call functionality via instrument cluster where in you can access your incoming outgoing and missed calls!!

-Displays bigger kmph (in my view tab)

-Browse and select audio source and select and view song playing

-Just imagine if you had a mobile connected via Bluetooth and you receive a call while backing up the car the sync 3 screen will be displaying the rear camera and hence you would not be able to know who is calling but not any more as the caller info displays on the instrument cluster itself!!

-And also compass is displayed on instrument cluster in short-form (In the right hand bottom corner)

The instrument also supports lane departure warning etc and also has engine auto off while waiting on traffic signals icon but those features are not available in India!
All thanks to TeamBHP and EcoSquads for the entire process of upgradation and a special thanks to Naveen for posting the entire process and for helping me personally to get it installed..!

The best DIY mod I have ever come across! Till I came to the last post, I had my heart in my mouth, fearing a mishap somewhere down the line. And the best part is, nkdev89, you made it appear such a breeze to do!clap:

Am I happy with that drab cluster? An emphatic No. Do I want to change it to a better MID? You bet. Do I follow in nkdev89's footsteps and do it myself? Even a more emphatic No!lol:

I am tipping my hat to you for undertaking this complex upgrade. Well done!

I own a Ford Ecosport 2019 Titanium+ Petrol AT vehicle which does not have SYNC3. I would be interested in trying a few upgrades you mentioned in your post.

Is it possible to swap out the instrument cluster for the ST line instrument cluster? Do I also need to upgrade the ECM and Flyaudio display + head unit? In your post you mentioned the possibility of enabling other features such as TPMS but wouldn't that require sensors pre-installed?

I have placed an order with OBDLink, delivery expected in 2 weeks!

For instrument cluster, I see a few options which I may need help with, let me know if there is a way to PM you.

Were you able to do it? My OBDLink is on its way, and I bought the EcoSport from the same batch, without Sync 3. Been 5 years, and I'm planning to source it and get to working.
