I went one step above and just changed the rubber covers on the Clutch and Brake pedals 2 months ago.

Re: DIY - Cleaning the ABC pedals

After reading this thread promised to do this at least once but never got around to doing it. Finally put an end to that and got the job done some days back. Since the car is an automatic had two pedals and one dead pedal to clean.

Before cleaning them with a toothbrush. However a simple fabric cloth managed to get most of the dirt away from the dead pedal and accelerator.

Having them cleaned with a toothbrush. Forgot to take pictures of the dead pedal.

The easiest pedal to clean. Straight lines mean less drama.

The dirtiest and difficult one to clean. Brake pedal after cleaning.

Dead pedal too is kind of easy. In fact the dead pedal and accelerator can be managed with just a fabric. However the crisscross pattern of the brake pedal will definitely require a toothbrush.
