The LEDs have a bluish hue in the AC vents whereas the Footwell LEDs are proper white.

Disclaimer:- If anyone wants to do a DIY installation or replacement of the AC vents of the Thar, Do it at your own risk. Even if getting the installation done from any aftermarket shop or replacement from the service center, Take the decision knowing it might cause damage and make things look worse than before. I shall not be liable for any damage claims. I would highly advise to have the proper armamentarium and DIY skills to attempt this mod. Also, if done in the Aftermarket, make sure to have a close observation during the installation steps, as described in my thread because they might miss to re-fit stuff and very rarely do they use a fusetap. Thank You

Is it possible to do just the cosmetic portion of this swap - meaning, if I did not care about the jill-jall fancy light effects etc., is it possible to just replace the vents alone without any of the electricals?

Is that too something to be wary about as mentioned in your disclaimer?

Cheers

Yes, you can skip connecting the wiring for the LED inside the AC vent.
Although the vents are currently available as a kit of 4 vents and LED is built in the vent itself and the wiring and controller module.
But not connecting the wiring is perfectly fine. The vents will work normally. Once replaced with these aftermarket vents, these vents are a lot easier to replace ( with the same Mercedes like vents) if need arises, without having to open up the dashboard.

Replacing just the center two vents and checking the air flow before total commitment will be my advise. Air flow is slightly less with these aftermarket vents, also the blower of the Thar is rubbish.

Luckily the Thar has a modular dashboard, the Passenger side and driver side have separate upper trim pieces, and a central piece which houses the HU.

So, now that the right side dashboard trim piece is removed. We need to remove the stock AC vent. AC vent is held in place by two Phillips head screws on either side at positions 8 and 4.
I wanted to do the same but the screws were missing in mine. They were missing from both the driver and passenger air vents. The Mahindra service technician who had originally replaced the vents under warranty must’ve been too lazy to put them back.

The screws aren’t necessary for the stock vents, which have additional clips which hold them in place. For the 3rd party ones you definitely need the screws. I’m going to scour the marker for the correct screws next.

This needs M4 x 12mm screws (Boodmo link). I couldn't find them nearby my locality and I couldn't wait for the Boodmo delivery timelines. So I decided to glue to glossy black trim to the body using Fevikwik. Will have to see how long it lasts.

I moved the leftover screws (4nos) from my 2 center vents to the outer vents. This way I can add screws to the center vents later. Another reason I went ahead with gluing is because the center piece costs only Rs.330 (Boodmo link) if I ever need to replace it.
