Hey there, I haven’t done anything like this before but I think the easiest way to do this would be to run the cable along the hinge for the side opening door, this should allow it to be hidden while leaving enough slack for the door to open and close, although if everything is measured out correctly I don't see it needing too much slack. Hope this helps.

DUAL-CHANNEL DASHCAM INSTALLATION IN THE XUV700, HARDWIRED WITH 24-HOUR PARKING SURVEILLANCE AND CONCEALED WIRING.

Hi everyone. Amit here. I have recently assumed ownership of an XUV 700 AX7L P AT.

One of the first things I wanted to do was to install a good dashcam in it. I'm not used to such a big car, and wanted documentary evidence if I ever got into trouble. The AX7L comes with a built in 360-degree camera which can record video onto an optional SD card. But it is limited to 32GB, difficult to access and the videos are distorted due to the extremely wide angle optics. While I have it enabled on my car, this is only a plan-B type solution. My first choice was still a high-quality, dedicated dashcam.
Congrats Orthodocx.

And welcome you to the mStallion Tribe.

Great narration combined with a detailed DIY. This should definitely go to the homepage.

My wishes to you for muching more miles

A well written DIY guide which even a layman can understand. You have an excellent writing style, it was like you were speaking to me directly. Thank you for sharing.

Harrowing is an understatement. That you did all this on a 2 day old car is unthinkable. Even our dear Sir Jeroen will be proud of this DIY.

Mods, we need a way to tag members? Don't we? Or, do we have it already?

Anyway, superb effort man. And a nice writeup, too! Wishing you many happy miles with your new car.

Thank you Arun. I believe it has already had it's 15 minutes of fame on the home-page yesterday. I'm happier about the fact that this thread is now part of TeamBHP's archive forever. If it ends up helping just one more person get similar results, I'll consider it a monumental success.

Thank you Kumar. You've made my day. I wish my wife still gave me compliments like these

Many thanks for the compliments Abhijit.

As to the pediatric surgery allegory, I did mention I was sweating profusely during the process. Looking back on the day, I am confident only a small part of that was due to the weather

I don't know who Sir Jeroen is, but he sounds like a legend! Will look up his DIY projects and hopefully learn some new things

Re: DIY: Hardwired Dual-Channel Dashcam installation, with 24-hour surveillance (XUV700)

May I suggest that you consider putting the fastag chip (you can cut the rest of the label) behind a trim? I, for one, have out mine behind the IRVM trims in the thar and scorpio N. Icici doesn't pay me to advertise for them. And NHAI is in my bad books with the lovely cattle rich highways they give me. So I tuck the label away - and this way one doesn't have to stick it to the glass either. It just works. Helpful if you have to change windshields, esp on a long trip.

Super clean and professional installation. XUV having a top open boot door is a bonus here as it helps with the rear wiring quite a bit. Side doors are a bit more tricky. Btw, I commend you for going the hardwired route. I didn't want the risk of fiddling with high amp electronics during my install and went for a simple USB method. Kudos to you, man!

Hey s4ch, I have a DIY dashcam installation thread dedicated to the 2016 model Scorpio. I'm not sure what your model is but it's a side door regardless. I'll DM the link to you 👍🏻

Re: DIY: Hardwired Dual-Channel Dashcam installation, with 24-hour surveillance (XUV700)

Thanks OrthodocX for the detailed DIY. I am planning A510 for my Brezza. But stuck in super-capacitor vs Li-ion battery dilemma. Anything you have considered on this aspect during the decision making process?
For a better rear view I think there is no way to avoid sticking the rear camera on defogger wire. Will it cause any issue with defogger functioning?

I am planning to do this. Lets see how it goes.

You're most welcome.

I did not think too much about the battery or supercapacitor. It's a reliable, well reviewed model with a large user base at a good price point. So I just went with it. I was more focused on the installation process itself. Once the wiring is in place, I can always swap out the dashcam if it becomes problematic.

Best of luck for your installation

Ohhh yes indeed you should look him up. He is certainly a legend and his reports are very entertaining to read apart from obviously being very very informative.

I half suspect he pulls apart his car and puts it together whenever he's bored 😅

Could you please share a few pictures. This makes me think where else can we hide the fastag. How about on the roof, at the front. behind the headliner.

The only Issue I can think of is at a toll with a problematic scanner, the blame will be on us and not the issue of the scanner and will have to pay double for not having a "visible" fastag.

Best of luck Roy. Wish you success. This would be the best of both worlds. Do post a long term review of this setup after a year.

Saw one more similar install somewhere on the interwebs...

Thanks a lot. I just completed my install looking at your tutorial and it was spot on. There was no point where I felt lost as you covered it in detail. Can you also share the camera settings you are using as my camera seems to be always on if I enable parking surveillance although its set to low sensitivity? My car is parked right next to the society main gate, may be that's why.

I was not successful routing the rear camera wire through the rear door flex line. Can you post some more information on how and where to enter in so I can pass the cable. I could not see a clear route through where I can put the guide wire to fish the rear camera wire.
