I was not successful routing the rear camera wire through the rear door flex line. Can you post some more information on how and where to enter in so I can pass the cable. I could not see a clear route through where I can put the guide wire to fish the rear camera wire.
Happy to help.

Camera settings for Parking Surveillance are at medium sensitivity. Recording duration selected as unlimited. There is also a time lapse recording feature but it is battery intensive so I have kept it disabled.

Recording is triggered when the car is bumped by someone or something. So if your camera is always on when in surveillance mode, something is wrong. It should only turn on when the camera's gyro/accelerometer senses movement of parked car. Even if car is parked outside, camera should not be recording unless car is shaken/bumped.

As for the cable routing, the last bit needs a little finger gymnastics. You need to pass a shuttling cable from the hole in the rear boot frame (where the rubber hose meets the frame - lets call it hole1) so that it comes out under the head liner on the right side through a hole in the body frame internally (hole2). Now tape the camera wire to this shuttling cable and pull it out of hole1. I used a few zip-ties daisychained together to make this shuttling cable as i did not have anything else available to me. Bend the tip of the lead tie a few times to give it a curve so that you can change it's direction.

This step takes some patience and a little lit of luck, like jailbreaking a PSP but you'll eventually get it right. I have helped a few people do this over the phone, and after a little bit of a struggle they have all managed to get it right.

Best of luck!!

DO-IT-YOURSELF:

DUAL-CHANNEL DASHCAM INSTALLATION IN THE XUV700, HARDWIRED WITH 24-HOUR PARKING SURVEILLANCE AND CONCEALED WIRING.

Thanks to BHPian OrthodocX's detailed tutorial and his help on telephone and Whatsapp, I completed this project on my 2022 XUV700 AXL Petrol yesterday. The only variation was the fuse box ACC Yellow hardwire installation; I found that for both F1 and F4 there was power even with the engine switched off, so I checked F13 and used that for the ACC connection.

This is my second DIY after the installation of the struts in the Bonnet.

I am grateful for the guidance and encouragment provided by OrthodocX.

Happy you got the installation sorted out.

I am surprised that we have differing findings on F1 and F4 fuses between 2022 and 2024 cars! Wonder what else Mahindra has changed sneakily over the years...

Hello OrthodocX, Thanks for guidance on the DIY, I am planning to install a DashCam on my Hycross, I have couple of questions, pls help:

1. I am confused between 70MAI A510 and REDTIGER F7NP, both almost cost the same, 70MAI A510 comes with STARVIS 2 and ADAS. How does ADAS help from Dashcams?
2. Is rear dashcam useful? We need to dedicate a USB port for it at rear right? Is it worth?
3. How is picture quality of 70MAI A510 at night?

Thank you !!

Hi.

1. I don't use ADAS from the dashcam. It's rudimentary at best. I would not recommend buying a dashcam for it's ADAS features. I would however highly recommend the Starvis 2 (basically the IMX675 Sony sensor) on the 70mai. Haven't used RedTiger, so cannot comment on it.

2. Rear dashcam is a nice to have feature, although not absolutely essential. But if you're getting a dashcam for documentation purposes in case of an accident, it makes sense to have as much recording as possible. A front dashcam will not record rear collision footage. You don't need a separate rear USB port for it. The rear cam is a slave to the front primary dashcam and plugs directly into it, not into a separate USB port.

3. Night video from the A510 is pretty decent. Can read number plates, especially from the front dashcam. Rear cam can pick up details if well lit, not too good in the dark (most rear dashcams are like this - not too great in very dark situations). Remember, the Starvis in only on the front cam, the rear is a 1080p Smartsens SC200AI sensor. That's all you get for the price. Even the much more expensive A810 uses the same rear cam. Dual Starvis will cost you a loooot more, check out viofo if you want to pay top dollar for night clarity on rear cams.

Re: DIY: Hardwired Dual-Channel Dashcam installation, with 24-hour surveillance (XUV700)

@OrthodocX, thanks for the detailed post. Much appreciated.

I've been in a dilemma if I really require a dashcam, especially for the top end vehcile (XUV700 AX7L), but your links and information shared have convinced me enought to go for it.

One question, did the dealer raise any objections towards installing a camera outside, especially around warranties?

I have decided to go with the 70mai S500 Rearview mirror model with the hardwire kit. I plan to DIY myself, if I don't get flustered about the whole process.

Will post if I get it done.

First priority is to get comfortable with the vehicle, before I start to fiddle around.

Fingers crossed

What a wonderfully detailed thread, thank you for putting this together!

I have a question regarding the "70mai Type-C Hardwire Cable Kit" that you have used. If I do not want 24 hour parking surveillance, and simply want the dashcam to just power on and off when the car powers on and off, can I just not connect the VCC wire to the fusebox and connect the ACC wire only? Would this still work?

Another question: I love that you used spare slots in the fusebox. Do you need to put a secondary fuse in the fusetap wire or just the single fuse in the fusetap is sufficient considering these are spare slots?

1. Just go with the regular connection described in the tutorial and disable parking surveillance in Dashcam settings. I'm not sure if the kit will work properly if all connections are not done as designed. I didn't try this so I am not sure. Best way is to try it out yourself and educate us.

2. No secondary fuse needed in spare slots as they don't "protect" anything. Just use the provided fuses.

Re: DIY: Hardwired Dual-Channel Dashcam installation, with 24-hour surveillance (XUV700)

Hi Buddy, thanks for the detailed installation instructions, i have installed same dash cam on my car around a month back. I had a spare 32GB card which i was using all this while and it was working fine. I have purchased one 256GB card few days back and its not working on the dash cam.

This is the samsung card i have purcahsed for the dashcam - https://www.amazon.in/dp/B0CXJ1HP8V

When i inserted the new card, the camera recognised it and asked to format the card, i did the same and it started working fine. Next time i started the car after turning off it is giving below error. Image is from internet but i am getting the same error.

DIY: Hardwired Dual-Channel Dashcam installation, with 24-hour surveillance (XUV700)-12345.jpg

Tried reinserting the card, restarting the camera multiple times but same error.

I had one more new card i bought for my camera lying around so i tried using that and it behaved exactly the same way, camera asked to format, after formating it was working fine. Upon restarting the car is giving the same error.

This is other card which i have tried - https://www.amazon.in/dp/B0B2DCZDJZ

Re: DIY: Hardwired Dual-Channel Dashcam installation, with 24-hour surveillance (XUV700)

How does one use the parking monitor of dashcams in India, doesn't it drain the battery, for my Qashqai I have this https://shopee.sg/Enerpack-S8-S12-Ex...rom_login=true, the DDPAI Z50 is hardwired to this and this pack is hardwired to the charging ports, keeps the cam on for a day approx, is there any similar product which is installed in India?
