That sounds great!!! So its going to be shopping time! Please do not forget to include me when you set out for purchasing stuff!

Are you planning for a complete overhaul or thinking of doing it in stages?

Remote Fuel Lid Release for 118 NE

As the car is in the paint shop, thought it was high time to get the remote fuel lid mechanism installed. The fuel tank was already removed, which gave better accessibility for working.
Things I purchased
1. Maruti Esteem Fuel lid - Rs100/-
2. Indica Fuel lid locking mechanism - Rs 50/- (used piece)
I had already laid the cable for the opening mechanism while the boot release was done. The cable was from a Maruti Esteem.
A small DIY was involved in bringing a spring release for the lid to flip open upon pulling the cable.
Let the pictures explain the rest.

Oops!! Forgot to mention what the hair clutches are doing here. They both were cannibalized for the springs . I am yet to inform my wife about this.

A budget resto & a paint job

Dear all,
After multiple attempts to strike a good deal balancing cost & workmanship for a paint job on my 19.5 year old 118NE. Finally managed time & funds to get my car painted. The garage was recommended by a colleague who got his car done up at the same place. After spending 2 months on assimilating replaceable parts like the lamps, beadings, carpets etc. took the plunge. Left the car with workshop manager on 30th Jan 2015 after filling in the job card. Apart from the paint job, I had included a few mechanical jobs also. Fast Forwarding 40 days, the car is back home at my parking. While the car was in the shop, I had also got the silencer muffler mounts converted to something like in the Indica / Maruti family vehicles.

Cotton Fabric Seat covers

Found a cotton fabric which with a pattern very close to the company fitted seat & inner door panels. The tailor did a good job and highly satisfied with the outcome. Also got a new rexin piece for the speaker board behind the rear seat.

ilangop, you did a good renovation of your NE118. Car looks fresh after new painting and seat covers. Head restraints for the front seats would have been an added safety and ergonomics. I like the rear seats, they look like a sofa with a good thigh support.

As your posts are 2yrs ago, would be happy to see the recent pictures of your NE118.
