Any idea where I can find torx type screwdrivers ? I'm only able to find key type sets (L shaped like allen key).

You can get virtually any screwdriver from iFixit(.com), if eBay and local markets don't help.

Problem is prices - Don't see the point of spending upwards of 2.5K for a set from ebay.com when local stores might carry the same thing for a fraction of the price. Trying to find a set locally before I order online.

Go to side lanes of SJP Road (closer to the mosque end - not Town Hall end; connecting SJP Rd with SP Lane) - you will be able to find low priced Torx sets, or sets with Torx bits). Don't take your car there - you won't find parking.

Thanks, I looked there but I couldn't find bigger sizes. They only seemed to have the smaller sizes that are common on electronics. Will check again - have to go to JC road for tyres soon :( .

Hopefully I can find a set of the "tamper proof" ones that have a hole in the middle.

Try the shop below Westside on Commercial Street.

"Tamper proof ones"???

I'm not sure but I think it's a variant of Torx and is called security Torx.

From Wikipedia

A version known as Security Torx, Tamper-Resistant Torx (often shortened to Torx TR) or pin-in-Torx contains a post in the center of the head that prevents a standard Torx driver (or a straight screwdriver) from being inserted.

Yup - those. Electronics devices seem to use those, might as well get them if I can find. Will try the commercial street shop.

Thanks pal. Will take it to the A.S.S and ask them to do an assessment.

Cheers

Update:
Last weekend went to Sundaram and left the Spark in their body shop to do the assessment. On seeing the damage, they quoted 10k :Shockked:

They suggested to opt for the insurance which would come under 2K. So, filled up necessary forms and left the Spark there. Hopefully should receive it in a day or two.

Received the car today. OMG!!! The left side profile is looking brand new. Wonder how they did it. No sign of a crash happened. Cost was Rs.1900.

Has anyone seen the huge Stanley mobile tool chest in India? I am looking at the 50 Gallon one. Hard to find one. I have a good amount of tools as I am in RC.

Guys, This is one of my favorite thread! Need inputs from experts here. I am in the lookout for a spanner set and socket wrench in Bangalore. Basically I am planning to do some DIY service of my DIO and some stuff for my car. Before heading to SJP road, i need to know what brand I should be looking at. In my limited collection of tools, I have an adjustable wrench from Everest, and IMO its of good quality. Any other superior brand which is VFM? And what would be the cost for the same?

Also any recommended shops at SJP road?

Thanks,
Bejoy

Bejoy,

Dont know much about the brand, but I got a ring spanner kit of GB tools from HomeTown(marthahalli) last week. They seems well built and got some discounts too (got the entire set for 450/-). I got their tool box also from SP road for 900/- (CANTILEVER TOOL BOX)

You should get a Stanley set for about 1000 Rs. Try the shop near commercial street police station.

^^^ Or the couple of shops on the left side on NR Road itself before the City Market fly-over starts. Go early enough and you get to park easily. The SJP Road shops are in the connecting lanes to SP Lane starting from the Masjid side, and a few on SP Lane.
