Mercedes-Benz Vision EQXX will debut with a real world range of more than 1000 km on January 3, 2022

Mercedes-Benz has released a new teaser image of the all-electric Vision EQXX prototype and confirmed that it will be unveiled on January 3, 2022.

The VISION EQXX is set to become the most efficient electric vehicle ever built by Mercedes-Benz with a real-world range of more than 1,000 km.

According to Member of the board of management of Daimler, Markus Schafer :

Mercedes-Benz Vision EQXX EV Concept teased; Claims 1000 km real-world range

Mercedes-Benz has released a teaser of its futuristic electric car concept, the Vision EQXX. The new Mercedes-Benz Vision EQXX concept is set to make its public debut on January 3, 2022. Once unveiled, the Vision EQXX claims to become the brand's most efficient electric vehicle, with a real-world range of 1000 km (620 miles).

Markus Schafer, COO of Mercedes-Benz also stated that the concept will have a single-digit consumption value for kilowatt-hours per 100 km, when driven at normal highway speeds.

Mercedes-Benz also claims that the battery cells on the EQXX concept will have a 20 per cent higher density than on the EQS. Although a concept at this stage, the carmaker confirmed its plans to bring the technology to its consumer products very soon.

I think the design looks more Korean than German. I mean if somebody had shown me the pictures of the car without the logos and told me it's the sedan version of the Kia EV6, I would've believed them!

First, there’s the 900-volt battery pack. Very aerodynamic but looks are lacklustre. The rear lights are similar to Kia EV6.

For me it is more like Light Year One, a long range solar electric vehicle that was unveiled in 2019 with a Cd of 0.20.

The Tesla Roadster has a slated 1000km(620 miles) range too. The batteries in the Roadster weigh an estimated 833kg, MB's batteries weigh almost half.

Quite impressive figures. The overall exterior profile looks more like a vintage James Bond car.
Most of the concept cars always look like they came directly out of the movie "Tron:Legacy".
Over the top styling, not so practical features. Thankfully, most of the styling elements don't make it to production models though.

drag in this is 0.18, that's seriously low and that's easiest way to increase efficiency. I highly doubt Nexon EV or any other EV in India have even thought of this as they are ICE converted vehicles basically.

The Mercedes EQXX reportedly has an air-cooled battery pack. I guess the relatively low performance of the motor is not only to enhance range, but also to ensure that the battery does not overheat. It will also be interesting to know how the battery pack would perform in colder climates.

The article on the Daimler website on the EQXX does not mention DC charging speeds at all even though 900v system is used. I guess it is safe to assume that even with the 900v system, the EQXX will not have very high peak DC charging speeds like Lucid Air or Taycan or new generation Hyundai/Kia EVs. The aim with the 900v system seems to be to keep the charging current low to avoid overheating during DC charging, while still providing decent charging speeds. If the efficiency is as high as Mercedes claims, that might still be enough to add 150-200km range in 15 minutes or so.
