The updated Tigor EV could get a larger battery pack with improved range, similar to the upcoming Nexon EV, which is expected to get a 40 kWh battery pack. The additional 10 kWh capacity is estimated to increase the maximum range of the electric SUV to 400 km.

There’s a pressure on the input cost for making EV cars. Not sure how the input cost will be passed on to the customers.

NEW DELHI, March 29 (Reuters) - Tata Motors, India's top-selling electric carmaker, said the cost of battery cells had increased by around 20% because of a global surge in raw material prices, mainly lithium, putting pressure on the company in the short-term.

Shailesh Chandra, managing director of the passenger vehicles and electric mobility subsidiaries, told Reuters that cell prices have been rising over months and he expects them to remain high for about a year.

"Immediate impact seems to be about a 20% kind of an increase which will have short-term pressure. This should moderate within a year and then start coming down," he said.

"Short term spikes will happen. It is good to focus on the secular long term trend which will keep going down," he said.

May be one of the reasons why Tata has increased Nexon EV prices by 25000₹.

Out of topic: Why are they camouflaging a vehicle that is already selling? I mean, if it is just a matter of testing new battery pack then no one is gonna know what's under the hood, right? Unless of course there are some major facelift included.

Free marketing. Had they just tested a standard nexon EV with a bigger capacity battery pack. No one will know about it, until they see temporary plates.
