Re: Every electric pole could become a charging point

At least not good in places like Bangalore. Now the arguments are over car parking spaces on public road, next the fight will be for charging points near the poles.
Landlords would increase the rent (or initial deposit) for 'convenience of EV charger in "our" electric pole'.

Re: Every electric pole could become a charging point

There are a lot of these now in my town (Kottayam). Recently been seeing a lot of electric autos and bikes in Kerala and this could be really helpful for them. Even for EV car owners, this could prove to be helpful if they are running low on charge and are in urgent need of some power. Luckily all the charging points near my house are located on wide roads.

Re: Every electric pole could become a charging point

Found this news link :

https://www.thehindu.com/news/nation...le37919736.ece

It says : Kerala State Electricity Board (KSEB) has decided to launch 1,140 pole-mounted charging stations across the State.

Very good initiative indeed which can be replicated pan India. Parking charges can be baked into the charging fees and the Municipalities too could gain revenue if adequate parallel parking facilities are provided as part of their Green City initiative [ could be reserved for EVs as well]

The infrastructure is low on costs surely. Yes, overload is a cause of concern.

The other causes of concern could be adequate safety measures in view of potential fire hazards. And the most important of all is adequate parking space around the respective electric poles so that congestion is avoided in crowded areas.

Also, the KSEB (or any electricity distribution company) could allocate each of these only on a single person basis, to unemployed persons. A person gets only one charging point and no more. They could be awarded the contract to operate these on a contract for a year or two year on a renewable basis. Such persons could charge govt fixed rates from EV owners and in turn pay KSEB a fixed amount for each two/four wheeler recharged. It can ensure good upkeep and sustain the charging points to generate self employment and revenue for the govt.
