re: Tesla Model 3 Refresh, now unveiled More pics of the 2024 Tesla Model,
- For now, the updates have come only to the European rear-wheel-drive and long-range (LR) versions.
- The new Model 3 receives an updated interior and a host of other improvements that will boost its range.
-Visually, the most significant alterations have been made to the front and rear facias of the Model 3
- The front includes a pair of slim LED headlights with incorporated daytime running lights sitting above a revised bumper with sharper lines and a new lower grille opening.
-The rear end has also been freshened up with new LED taillights while Tesla has also crafted new 18-inch Photon and 19-inch Nova wheels for the EV.
- Tesla has deleted the stalks on the steering column and has also moved the gear selector to the touchscreen, a decision that could cause some controversy.
- The minimalistic philosophy has been retained but Tesla has crafted a new dashboard for the Model 3 that includes ambient lighting running across it and flowing into the doors. Speaking of the doors, the Model 3 gets new door panels as well. In addition, the car manufacturer has designed a new steering wheel for the Model 3 that incorporates the turn signals.
- Tesla has even managed to increase the size of the trunk from 561 liters (19.8 cubic feet) to 594 liters (20.9 cubic feet). Passengers sitting in the rear also receive an 8-inch touchscreen where they can adjust the climate control settings and access various entertainment functions. The main infotainment screen up front has also grown from 15 inches to 15.4 inches and has slimmer bezels.
- Deliveries of the updated Model 3 will begin in late October in Europe and the Middle East. Quote:
The estimated WLTP range for the updated RWD Model 3 with 18-inch wheels is 344 miles (554 kilometers), while the LR variant is good for 421 miles (678 km). That’s roughly an 11 to 12 percent increase from the current models’ WLTP range of 305 and 374 miles, respectively. Note that the EPA figures will vary significantly for the US-spec electric sedan
| Link Prices: Prices have risen across the range – with the entry-level rear-wheel-drive model now priced from $61,900 plus on-road costs, up from $61,300 previously, and the Long Range from $71,900 plus on-roads, up $1500. Quote:
Orders are open now on the Tesla Australia website ahead of first deliveries due between January and March 2024, pending any delays.
There are two models in the updated Tesla Model 3 line-up: the base Rear-Wheel Drive (RWD) and all-wheel-drive Long Range AWD.
There is no mention of the flagship all-wheel-drive Performance in the launch materials; it is unclear if it has been axed, or will return at a later date.
Driving range has been lifted across the board due to improved aerodynamics, and a reduction in the drag coefficient from 0.23Cd to 0.219Cd, making it one of the world's most aerodynamically-efficient production cars – reportedly contributing to energy efficiency of just 13.2kWh/100km for the base model.
The Tesla Australia website lists claims driving range has increased from 491km to 513km, and the Long Range from 602km to 629km. The outgoing Performance quoted 547km.
Interestingly, these Australian figures apply to versions with 18-inch and 19-inch wheels – whereas in Europe they are applicable only to 19-inch wheeled versions. In Europe Tesla claims 554km for the RWD, and 678km for the Long Range with 18-inch alloys.
