Thank you.. I stay close to Nelliyampathy. I know the place quite well. There is lot of scope for birding in Nelliyampathy. Great hornbill being the star attraction. You can pm me anytime for details. |
Thats great mate. Have been to Thattekad Bird Sactuary recently but no sightings of Great Indian Hornbill there.
I have sent you a PM. Thanks a lot.

That reminds me. Last July I was woken up by loud shrill cry in the morning. Since I had never heard that sound before, I looked out of my bedroom window. I saw these majestic birds in the tree next to my house. I don't have good birding glass, pardon the low quality shots. Each were close to 2.5ft from beak to tail.
I am told these are Malabar pied Hornbill. I didn't go to them, instead they visited at my Manipal home. :D

A Rufous treepie quenching it's thirst today at home. Taken with a Nikon D3200 and a Tamron 150-600mm lens...
An unexpected visitor at my home.
After yesterday's rains nature was rather generous to pose this morning...
Inclined towards almighty GOD
For one reason or another I find myself tied down at home for a while, so the terrace here is my action theatre!
i20ian - Isn't the second pic a White Browed Bulbul? That's a good catch since they do not come out in the open quite often

Yes indeed.. They are highly elusive but quite common in Palakkad.
