The quality of Airtel is going down day by day. My BP goes high even before i call 121. They have the worst customer service ever. And with all these scams, and extra bills, im losing trust in Airtel. But what to do, there is no other option also.

On the good side, whenever i cross my fair usage, instead of decreasing my speed, they increase it to 2mbps from 512kbps. Now a days i get constant 2mbps, unlimited usage, at the price of 512 kbps

I am not sure how this is possible, maybe your plan has got upgraded and thus you feel billing is incorrect. There might be the case of bump in the speed due to extra value speed enhancement you bought or accidentally bought by your family member, it's easy and natural process.

I am on IPTV combo plan. IPTV combo plans have 10GB or 15GB max data(2mbps or 512kbps respectively),
So I asked for a simple plan change to Broadband 4mbps+IPTV topup plan.

Yes, their customer care is clueless.

After countless mails to all and sundry, I finally got a call from Bangalore. The person was helpful, and understood exactly what I wanted, and said it will be done within a week. But I will have to bear with no IPTV for 4-5 days. I said I can live with that, just do not make it a month long disconnection to get a plan change?

Compared to 2mbps is there significant difference in the browsing speed ?

The 4mbps is a good plan provided you get full 4mbps. I have this plan but I normally get only 2 - 3Mbps. I have never gotten more than that. And if you ask them they say that "sir, plan is upto 4mbps and not full 4Mbps". Also all areas dont have the wiring that can support 4Mbps. I am only sticking on to it because of the higher FUP quota.

Btw I heard that there are providers now who lay an optic fiber from the junction box to your home.

Have any of you availed this feature ? and has it improved the speed ?

No I have not availed this option as I am not sure if Airtel is doing that in my area. I will find out and update this thread if they are doing that and if it helps.

^ I have the 4 mbps plan and it rocks, I get full 4 mbps but as its capped to 10 gb I use it pretty fast, say within 15 days on multiple computers. Now my home 2 Mbps plan looks so slow.

I have 2 Mbps at home, 3 Mbps on Reliance (iPad) and 4 Mbps at office. I would still recommend Airtel as of now over 3G dongles providing 3mbps, 21mbps is good but 3 Mbps speed does not deliver the same speed at all times.

Our current bill has 199 rs "Gaming Charges".

Now what nonsense is this gaming charges?
I have not taken any Airtel Gaming plan or whatever.

Have made a complaint to customer care, lets see what do they say.

On Similar lines, Airtel have been charging 99 bucks ever month for some online storage pack which i never knew about. I have no clue from when i have been paying them this amount. Recently discovered this while looking at the bill. Called them and raised a request to deactivate it, but nothing has happened in the last Bill. Real pathetic service Airtel has been offering since a while.

I have been charged with F-secure Antivirus pack with a monthly charge of Rs. 85. They had called once and my wife opted for it since it was given for free for the first month (could have avoided). Next month they sent an email asking for confirming for next monthly recharge for the same. I could not respond and they auto-activated it for next cycle also . So there comes an additional charge of 85 in the current bill. I have opted it out now. Need to be careful from now on. Not sure why they activate by default if you don't confirm. All this while I never used the software since I don't have any Windows PC at home.

I have the 4mbs plan and the speed is amazing. Once you have had a taste of it you can never browse at lower speeds.
I can download whole movie (700mb) in a matter of 15 mins.
Streak live movies with minimal buffering. Youtube videos non-stop.
The down side is it has a limit of only 6gb after which the speed goes down to 256mbps which is pathetic speed to even load a basic flash page.
I always finish my speed by 10 days through the month and end up buying extra GB via the smartbytes plan of airtel.

I did not have any extra cable laid for installation.
The service personal even comes at 10pm to get issues sorted, may be he lives close-by and he says I can call him on his direct line for any issue than via the customer care.
I wish they provide unlimited 4gb plan as standard to everyone.

I emailed tham on 121 and they say they will reverse it next month before bill payment. Nothing can be done this month as I have already paid the bill.

Apparently, I am now in their premium customer bracket! Go figure??
